Wes Street 

Executive Director

“I have worked with Sunrise for 15 years.  I became a licensed nursing home administrator in 1992. I got my start in health care as a housekeeping supervisor and then proceeded to enter an administrator in training program. I have been working in health care ever since.

My favorite part of my job is spending time with our residents. I studied history in college and I love sitting with the residents and listening to stories about the things they have done.”

At Sunrise, we can make a difference in people’s lives each day. The residents and team members become an extended part of your family. When you come in in the morning and you greet a resident as you would your next door neighbor, you have made a friend.

In my spare time, I like to be outdoors boating or camping in the mountains. I love baseball and have coached kids for the past nine years. I like to spend time with my wife and family. I am a big fan of all kinds of sports. Recently, I have begun taking an interest in some travel, as well.”

Finda Solee 

Reminiscence Coordinator

“I was born in Liberia, West Africa. I am a Certified Validation Group Practitioner and a certified dementia care trainer. I have worked for Sunrise for 18 years, starting as a care manager. I was promoted to the Reminiscence Coordinator position two years after I started in November of 1999.

My favorite part of my job is being able to spend time with our residents, learn their stories and validate them. In dementia care, we learn to enter our residents’ world and be with them where they are at any given moment. 

At Sunrise, I can make a difference in our residents’ lives and join them on their collective journey. 

When I’m not at work, I enjoy entertaining families and friends and shopping, but the highlight of my life is spending time with my grandson, Kingston.”

“I have been at Sunrise of Columbia since April 2, 1999.  Previously, I taught middle school in Carroll County. 

I love that I get to do a first-day training with all of the new employees because I get to spend time with our new team members before they actually start working. The best part of working at Sunrise is meeting so many people from the Howard County community. I am always amazed how our residents, who have daily challenges, have found ways to be happy with their lives as they age. 

When I’m not at work, I am always happy spending time with my seven grandchildren and their parents.  When I’m at Bethany Beach by the ocean, life is good.”

Activities & Volunteer Coordinator

“I have worked at Sunrise for almost three years.  I started out as the concierge and was promoted to the Activities and Volunteer Coordinator six months later.  

There are so many things I love about my job!  I am fortunate to really get to know the residents on a personal and fun level.  I laugh with them, talk with them, I go on outings with them and so much more.  I am able to bring them joy with activities by allowing them to remember the things they loved when they were younger and remain completely independent. It’s the most rewarding job.  I am doing something great with my day, every day.  Not many people can say that.

The people I work with are irreplaceable and so amazing.  We are a family, one with a common purpose and bond.  I have never been so respected and appreciated at any other job. I can go to any of the other coordinators and always know they will support and help me in whatever I need, which is a rare thing to experience at the work place.

I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful children who are my proudest accomplishments.  I love to spend time with them and take care of them.  I adore cooking, especially Italian food and my favorite hobby is home interior decorating.  I do some personal shopping for friends and I love it!  I appreciate and love my friends and spending time with them, especially my old West Virginia University roommates.”

“I began my career with Sunrise Senior Living in February of 2006.  Overall. I’ve been in the food industry for 40 years, 25 of which have been spent working with seniors. 

I can honestly say that cooking is my passion. When I prepare meals for our residents, my favorite Principles of Service are Enabling Choice and Nurturing the Spirit. It’s always a pleasure to see others smile. Not only do I love to cook, I enjoy caring for seniors as well. 

Aside from cooking, I enjoy playing a good game of basketball and jogging.”
