We’re welcoming brighter days while continuing to promote health and safety.
Thanks to high vaccination rates throughout our communities, our residents and team members are enjoying their time as they gather together and visit with friends and family while following federal, state, and local guidelines.
Latest updates: We are dedicated to providing transparent, ongoing communications about our COVID-19 response. Here are some of our latest updates.
Flu vaccines and COVID-19 boosters: Flu season brings with it the need for another layer of infection-control vigilance. Here’s what you need to know.
What kind of visitation is allowed in Sunrise communities?
We are supporting visits in residents’ suites, common areas, and outside, depending on each community’s operations phase and as allowed by state/provincial and/or local regulations or guidance. Check with your local community for specific guidelines and safety measures.
How is Sunrise handling the Omicron variant?
To promote the health and safety of our residents, their loved ones, and our team members, we will continue to follow the evidence-based safety and infection control protocols that we have in place. In line with the CDC’s updated guidance, we are recommending that fully vaccinated individuals resume wearing masks when indoors in areas of the country with substantial or high transmission of COVID-19 infection. Masks are required for visitors in all community common areas and are strongly encouraged when in residents’ suites, regardless of vaccination status, or as otherwise required by applicable laws.
What are Sunrise’s vaccine requirements?
Full vaccination against COVID-19 is a required and essential job function for all community team members in the U.S., subject to applicable laws and Sunrise’s reasonable accommodation policies and procedures. Sunrise believes that it is our duty to take all measures possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and associated infectious diseases in our communities. COVID-19 is a serious and highly contagious illness that can lead to death or have long-term medical and health impacts. Therefore, team members, students, and volunteers who may have close contact with our residents are required to be fully vaccinated and meet required infection control measures, subject to applicable laws and Sunrise’s reasonable accommodation policies and procedures.
Do Sunrise residents still need to wear masks and practice social distancing?
Masking and social distancing requirements will vary depending on community operating status, community vaccination rates, the vaccination status of each resident and visitor, and state and local regulations. Masks must be worn in common areas and may be removed when fully vaccinated residents are together, subject to applicable laws. Our team members are required to wear masks and use additional Personal Protective Equipment, as appropriate under the circumstances, in our communities.
How are family members being updated and engaged?
It’s never been more important to communicate with our Sunrise families. We’re staying in touch with frequent emails, virtual town halls, and phone calls and encouraging transparent, two-way conversations. In addition, through our family engagement app, family members are able to conveniently view photos, videos, activities, dining menus, and more—helping everyone stay in touch and up to date. They can even share their own pictures and videos of important moments, such as the birth of a new family member. Learn more about our family engagement efforts.
How are you helping to stop the spread of COVID-19?
Sunrise team members remain committed to prioritizing the health and well-being of our residents and everyone in our communities by adhering to evidence-based infection control and social distancing protocols, even when they are outside of our communities.

What is your testing strategy?
Currently, community testing strategies are determined based on each community’s status and applicable state/provincial and local testing requirements. Residents and families will be notified if there are updates to the testing requirements at their community.
Sunrise has done an outstanding job during this pandemic. I am amazed at the wonderful organization of the team of care workers, health providers and the caring attitude that is always there.
I appreciate the care the staff at Bedford Court has taken to keep residents safe during the pandemic. The communication was frequent and honest and clear. The staff were helpful and caring.
Keep up the great job you are doing keeping staff and residents safe through this pandemic. Special thank you for taking such good care of my mom.
I speak with my mom almost every day and have had a few face-to-face calls. I appreciate ALL that Sunrise staff and caregivers are doing to make my mother's residency at Sunrise as pleasant as practicable. It can't be easy!
