Chief Executive Officer
Chris Winkle was named chief executive officer for Sunrise Senior Living in April 2014. He joined Sunrise in 2013 as chief operating officer, responsible for all Sunrise community operations in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, as well as Sales, Resident Care and Programming, Development, Facilities Management (including Capital Expenditures and Interior Design), Dining and Human Resources for the organization.
Before joining Sunrise, Mr. Winkle served nearly nine years as chief executive officer of MedQuest, Inc., a leading operator of independent, fixed-site, outpatient diagnostic imaging centers in the United States. Previously, he served as president and chief executive officer for Mariner Health Care, Inc., which operated skilled nursing facilities, assisted living and long-term acute care hospitals. Prior to that role, Mr. Winkle was the chief operating officer at Integrated Health Services, where he helped pioneer the sub-acute care sector. He was responsible for all of the facility and ancillary service operations. Before that, Mr. Winkle held management positions within specialty and rehabilitation hospitals.
Mr. Winkle is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University.
