Michael Stein serves as senior vice president of Legal and Associate General Counsel for Sunrise Senior Living, with the primary responsibility of managing operations-related legal and regulatory matters both in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Michael began his long-term care legal career at Marriott International in 1988, supporting its newly created senior living services division. He came to Sunrise in 2003 upon its acquisition of Marriott’s senior living division business.
Prior to this, Michael practiced law at Hunton & Williams (now Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP), a large global law firm. Before becoming an attorney, he was a health planner at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and a hospital administrator at West Virginia University Hospital, a major teaching and research institution.
Michael earned his bachelor’s in Political Science from Williams College, master’s in Health Administration from Duke University, and Juris Doctor degree from Tulane University.
