Paula Adams, B.S./M.S./R.N., joined Sunrise Senior Living in November of 2021 and serves as the Chief Clinical Officer, where she oversees all care-related programs and policies impacting Sunrise’s communities. Specifically, she is responsible for Sunrise’s clinical operations to include leading care and wellness programs, clinical informatics, and clinical education.
With more than 30 years of leadership experience in healthcare management, Paula has a depth of experience across the care spectrum and demonstrated results in leading diversified clinical and operations teams, business strategy development as well as designing new opportunities to meet evolving customer needs.
Paula previously served as chief clinical officer at Senior Lifestyle Corporation, where she was responsible for all clinical operations for 180 communities focused on assisted living, memory care and skilled care. Under her leadership, she implemented competency–based clinical programs as well as a value-based model focused on ancillary services such as home health, hospice, and pharmacy that have become increasingly important for senior living companies.
She has also held a variety of operational leadership roles for Brookdale Health Services, HCR Manor Care, Tender Loving Care, Housecall Medical Resources as well as Apria Healthcare among other companies after starting her career with Nutri System where she designed nursing training and corporate policies and procedures for its growing franchise model as well as all staff recruitment and development programs.
Paula received her masters and nursing degrees from Northwestern University after earning her Bachelor of Science in genetics and chemistry from The Ohio State University.
