We’re welcoming brighter days while continuing to promote health and safety.
It all started two years ago when resident Irwin "Irv" Weiner held his first art exhibit at Sunrise of Woodland Hills, CA, during the community’s Alzheimer's fundraiser. Since then, his exhibit has become a critical part of an annual silent auction that raises funds for The Alzheimer’s Foundation – much of which are raised by the proceeds from Irv's work. Last year, he did a show in Valencia, CA, at Sunrise at Sterling Canyon where he plans to unveil his works once again. This year, Irv plans to condense his exhibit to around 25 pieces, down from his usual 75-piece shows in hopes of making it a traveling exhibit.
This year's first show will run for three days, August 14 through 16, at Sunrise at Sterling Canyon and will then likely travel to other neighboring Sunrise communities to share his art, with the long-term goal of purchasing an art container so that his works can be shipped around the country for Sunrise residents all over to enjoy.
Irv and his wife, Adele, have been residents at Sunrise for a few years now and are considered the "resident ambassadors" of Sunrise Woodland Hills. Irv's works, of which there are over 400 pieces currently, reflect his dynamic personality. He's charming, pleasant and is known for his off-beat humor. Join us in congratulating Irv on sharing his passion for painting – residents, families and Sunrise visitors can't get enough!
