This refreshing recipe for punch is inspired by a drink the community’s chef and his family enjoy in his hometown of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. It’s the perfect complement to an afternoon social among residents and friends.

Greensboro Punch
Serves 8


¼ c. water
¼ c. sugar
3 c. unsweetened fruit punch
2 c. pineapple juice
1 c. grenadine
1 c. ginger ale
1 T. lime juice


  1. In a small saucepan, bring water and sugar to a boil. Boil for 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Let syrup cool.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the syrup, fruit punch, pineapple juice, grenadine, ginger ale and lime juice. 
  3. Chill and serve over crushed ice.
