New City Nurses

This week, we are celebrating National Nurses Week (May 6-12) by honoring some of our excellent nurses here at Sunrise. Two of these nurses, Christine Gerbehy and Bridget Campbell, work together each day to make a difference in the lives of our residents at Sunrise of New City.

“Together, this duo is unshakeable, funny and caring. They sacrifice countless hours to promote teamwork, provide individualized care and let our residents know that they genuinely care.”

- Toni Thorne, Assisted Living Coordinator, Sunrise of New City, NY

Christine and Bridget have more than 75 years of nursing experience between them and use this lifetime of knowledge to care for others and lead and inspire their fellow team members.

Christine joined the Sunrise team after a more than 30-year career in geriatric psychiatry. She is calm and selfless and immediately was considered invaluable to the team.

Before joining Sunrise of New City in 2001, Bridget spent much of her 40-year career working with adolescent psychiatric patients. She is calm in difficult situations and a comfort to everyone with whom she encounters. A native of County Mayo, Ireland, Bridget loves to sit and have a “spot of tea” with our many Irish residents.

Christine and Bridget are considered a “dream team” within Sunrise of New City. They work in sync; listening to one another, sharing their stories and always keeping the residents best interests in mind. Their leadership skills and dedication to making a difference is a true display of the Sunrise mission, and for that, we salute them.

Join us in celebrating a nurse who has made a difference in your life this week. Share a photo or story about your favorite Sunrise nurse on Facebook or Twitter and use the hashtags #SunriseCares and #NursesWeek.
