We’re expanding operations and welcoming brighter days.
It's that spooky time of year again, and if you're having a Halloween party, you'll definitely want to provide your guests with a lot of treats.
When it comes to serving holiday items, sometimes you can take simple desserts and dress them up a bit. This is the case for Martha Stewart's Crisp Candy Corn Treats, which taste like a rice crispies treat but look like our favorite Halloween candy.
Crisp Candy Corn Treats
9 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
12 cups miniature marshmallows, divided
3/4 teaspoon salt, divided
9 cups crisp puffed-rice cereal, divided
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
Yellow food coloring
Red food coloring
1 tablespoon grated lemon zest
Grease a 5-by-9-inch loaf pan with cooking spray. Melt three tablespoons of the unsalted butter in a large saucepan. Add 4 cups of marshmallows and 1/4 teaspoon fine salt. Mix until melted. Pour in three cups of cereal and transfer to pan. Pour the mixture to the bottom of the loaf pan and press down with a spatula.
Repeat the process again, this time adding orange zest and the yellow and red food coloring in order to make an orange mixture. Add this on top of the bottom layer in the loaf pan. Create a third batch, adding yellow food coloring. Pour third batch on top.
Leave mixture in the pan for at least two hours, then maneuver the cereal block out of the pan. Cut into 10 square slices and then cut each square diagonally in half. Use your hands to mold into candy corn shape.
