Irania Vargas joined Brighton Gardens of West Orange in 1998. Her passion for senior living started at a very young age when she volunteered at Sunrise. Irania has grown with Sunrise. Starting as a care manager, Irania always wanted to make sure that her residents had a pleasant start to their day. Her role as assisted living coordinator allowed her to focus on our mission, "Involving Friends and Family to help Champion the Quality of Life for All Seniors." She states, “involving their families and friends is such a great way to learn about who they are and how we can better their lives. I truly enjoy seeing such pride on their faces when loved ones come to visit.”
Irania started her role as Executive Director in March of 2020 right as the COVD-19 Pandemic began. She has led her residents and team members through the highs and lows. She has also ensured that everyone was safe and always had everything they needed. When Irania is not in the community, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their four children.
Ava Midwinter’s journey with Brighton Gardens of West Orange began in 1999 as a care manager. She has developed meaningful relationships with our residents by always putting a smile on their faces. Ava was previously a lead care manager and a certified medication care manager. During her time as a lead care manager, she was a job coach and mentor to many new care managers.
She has spent countless hours helping others learn their role. Through her hard work and determination, Ava was promoted to Assisted Living Coordinator in the Spring of 2020. When Ava is not in the community helping others, she enjoys spending time with her family. She cherishes her time with her two children and three grandchildren.
Carla began her journey as a care manager with Sunrise almost seven years ago. Shortly after, she was promoted to a lead care manager who would oversee the daily responsibilities of her coworkers. She then transitioned to a medication care manager on our third floor where she would administer medications, assist residents with their diabetes managements, and help support our wellness office.
Always looking for a challenge and wanting to grow, Carla was admitted to our Coordinator in Training Program. After completion of the course, Carla was promoted to our Reminiscence Coordinator. Carla believes in our mission to Champion the Quality of Life for All Seniors. Carla and her team provide activities to stimulate mind, body and spirit. “Knowing the comfort and happiness our residents enjoy every day gives me a sense of satisfaction and motivation to work harder every day.” When Carla is not leading her team in the community, she can be found with her adorable family. Carla and her husband are the heads of her church’s family ministry and her children are part of the church choir. She enjoys spending her free time offering help and support to the members of her church.
Johnny started with Sunrise as a Dishwasher before being prompted to Dining Services Coordinator. Johnny is a Chef/Crater. His favorite part of Sunrise is the different people that he gets to meet, the residents, and hearing about every residents' life stories.
In his spare time, he likes to draw, practice cooking, build model kits and play video games.
Dahlia started with Sunrise as a care manager, then became a med tech and is now the lead care manager. Her favorite part of Sunrise is that the company promotes from within and believes in their team, which allows them to grow professionally.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, dancing and shopping.
Jude has a professional background in Medication Aid. His favorite part of working at Sunrise is that he loves working together with his team and helping bring joy to residents' days.
In his spare time, he enjoys watching the news and reading.
