Meet the Brighton Gardens of West Orange Team
We are pleased to introduce you to some of the members of our fantastic team here at Brighton Gardens of West Orange, NJ.
Kirstin Walsh began her career with Sunrise Senior Living in August of 2006. With a background in culinary arts and hospitality management, Sunrise was a natural fit.
Kirstin’s favorite Principle of Service is Celebrating Individuality. “Spending time with the residents, learning what roads they have journeyed and how their stories began is something that I am passionate about,” she said. “Introducing residents to each other and finding common threads that they have is my favorite part of the day.”
Assisted Living Coordinator
Irania Vargas joined Brighton Gardens of West Orange in 1998. Her passion for senior living started at a very young age when she volunteered at Sunrise.
Her favorite Principle of Service is Involving Family and Friends. “Ensuring that our residents have a pleasant start to the day is what we do,” Irania said. “Involving their families and friends is such a great way to learn about who they are and how we can better their lives. I truly enjoy seeing such pride on their faces when loved ones come to visit.”
Reminiscence Medication Technician
June started working at Brighton Gardens of West Orange in May 2002. As a Medication Technician in our Reminiscence Neighborhood, June stays busy.
Her favorite Principle of Service is Preserving Dignity. “It is important to me that every resident is treated with respect and dignity,” June said. “Ensuring that they get their medications in a private timely fashion is what I do. I am able to come to work every day and enrich my residents’ lives with joy and laughter.”
Assisted Living Lead Care Manager
Ava Midwinter started with Brighton Gardens of West Orange in October 1999. She joined the team as a care manager and through hard work and determination she became a medication manager and finally Lead Care Manager. Ava has served in the role of Lead Care Manager for more than a decade.
Ava’s favorite Principal of Service is Involving Family and Friends. Her philosophy is to always put a smile on our residents’ faces and encourage family involvement. She also enjoys supporting and assisting her fellow team members.
In her spare time, Ava enjoys shopping, mentoring and spending time with her own family; her two children and three grandchildren.
Activity and Volunteer Coordinator
Janet Stefano has been with Sunrise since 2001. She has a varied background working in the creative field and extensive experience working with seniors and people with disabilities.
“Working at Sunrise is rewarding in so many ways,” Janet said. “After all these years, it truly feels like family. The best part of my job is the time I spend sitting and chatting with our residents. In one moment they can take you on a trip to the past and in the next you can learn their view of the world around them today. You always come away with a renewed sense of respect for their life experiences.”
