We’re pleased to introduce you to some of the exceptional team members who make Huntington Common a wonderful place to live.
“Prior to joining Sunrise, I worked for fifteen years at another senior living company as executive director, regional director of operations, and as an operations specialist. I love working in a senior living community on a daily basis—working with team members to assure that residents and their families have the best senior living experience possible.
Talking with residents at breakfast, joining them in activities, and responding to their needs and concerns are just some of the parts of my job that I love. For me, being part of a quality Sunrise team, providing excellent care and programs for seniors is the most rewarding part of working for Sunrise Senior Living.
Outside of work, I enjoy sailing and singing as a member of a local choral group.”
Director of Sales
“I’ve always worked in the home care and hospitality fields and feel privileged to be working at Huntington Common.
In my role, I have the opportunity to help seniors make that life-changing transition from their home to our friendly, active community. One of the best parts of working for Sunrise is that I can carry out the Sunrise mission of championing quality of life for our residents each and every day.
When not at work, I love to golf, bicycle, travel, and watch as many movies as I possibly can!”
Director of Sales
“I joined Huntington Common as a director of sales in 2012. For much of my career, I have worked in the hospitality and healthcare fields. My heart seems to belong to senior living—I return to it time and time again.
I have found my home helping people find their homes. I love being the person who can give seniors and their families hope, understanding, and support in this new phase of their lives.
It sounds silly but I used to work for a competitor senior living company in Virginia, where Sunrise headquarters is located and thought about working for Sunrise all the time. Sunrise has always been the innovator—the best at senior living. Many years and a few moves later, I finally got my wish and work at the most-homelike, loveliest Sunrise community I know.
I spend my spare time with family, friends, and my pets. I enjoy cooking and entertaining.”
Resident Care Director
"I joined Sunrise in December of 2010, starting as a care manager and moving on to become a lead care manager. I graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a minor in Biology. After passing my nursing boards, I stayed at Huntington as per diem on the Wellness staff while working full time at a skilled nursing facility.
When a Wellness Nurse position opened up here at Huntington, I wasted no time in applying! I was a Wellness Nurse for about 3 years and really learned a lot! In the summer of 2016, an opportunity opened for the Resident Care Director role. I have been the Resident Care Director here since! I love to help people, and it truly is a gift to be able to be a part of our residents' lives every day. Working for Sunrise has been a wonderful experience, and I am so happy to be part of this team!
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two dogs, Mia and Jack. I love to read, be outside, and spend time with my friends and family!"
Assisted Living Coordinator
"I joined the Sunrise team in December of 2010. I began as a care manager in the Reminiscence neighborhood, and from there, I became a lead care manager in Reminiscence and the Huntington community. I was also a medication care manager, third shift lead, and for the past two years, Reminiscence supervisor. I was promoted to Assisted Living Coordinator in January of 2018.
I graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology, with minors in nutrition and psychology. I went on to be the assistant field hockey coach at the University of New England. I am passionate about helping and teaching others, and have participated in the Alzheimer’s support groups, held here at Huntington Common, over the past two years. I like to stay informed about Alzheimer’s disease research and am involved in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s each year in York, Maine. The best part of each day is knowing that I can make a difference in someone else’s.
Outside of Sunrise, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our daughter, Harper, who was born in February of 2017. My hobbies are reading, hiking, and learning new crafts."
See what some of the Huntington Common team members say about life at our community:
"I am happy to be at a place where not only do I love working, but I could retire here…literally! What a blessing to work in an atmosphere where you feel like your coming to see family every day, in a beautiful environment."
"A job has to feed you in many ways and my job as the Dining Director at Huntington Common does just that….feeds me in so many ways. It feeds my passion by allowing me to create the best dining experience possible for our residents, it feeds my heart by allowing me to do what I truly love to do every day, and last but not least it feeds my soul to know that I have joined my fellow team members in enhancing a resident’s day."
"I am fortunate to have worked at Huntington Common for the last 19 years. The residents are great and the team is a joy to work with. It’s not often you find a job you love to do in your own hometown where you grew up. So many people in Kennebunk had a positive influence on me while I was growing up. A number of them - teachers, neighbors, coaches and even my mailman have moved into Huntington. It is rewarding to provide a safe and secure home to those residents I have known since childhood as well as the new friends and families I have met along the way."
"The true significance in life comes through relationships. Working at Huntington Common allows me to plan and create significant moments for people and that makes me feel useful."
"I feel thankful every day to be able to come to a job I truly enjoy. Working with our residents allows me to always be learning from the wisdom they impart. I appreciate being able to look into their eyes, to listen to their life stories and contribute to their quality of life. The location of my office affords me a view of our residents and their families sitting on the front porch in the afternoon sun. I can’t tell you how warm that makes me feel as I reminisce about my own mom and how much she loved the sun. I come from a large family and I look to our residents as well as my fellow team members as my extended family. Thank you for the gift of yourselves everyday!"
