Our team members are truly what make our community “home,” and each valuable member of our team is hired for his or her serving heart and ability to care for our seniors. We’re pleased to introduce you to just a few of the team members who make Sunrise of Bluemont Park such a special place!
"I have been with Sunrise since 2008. I started our working as an Assisted Living Coordinator and then became a Dining Services Director. Then in 2012, I took on my current role as Executive Director.
The best part of the job is knowing you have the ability to affect lives – from watching our residents become stronger, healthier, more engaged, and just overall more satisfied when they become a part of our family to helping our team members learn new roles and provide growth opportunities.
I believe the best part of Sunrise is the support we have as a whole. Sunrise is a large cooperation, yet we have the resources to provide help to our communities just a phone call away.
I spend most of my spare time with my two boys and wife. We are involved in soccer, cross country, swim, and track. My wife of 20 years and I enjoy going for walks with our two English Bulldogs."
"I started working for Sunrise in October of 2017 but have been in the industry since 2007. When I was in high school, I started working in skilled nursing and have worked in many different roles. I started out as a concierge, worked in activities, then moved on to medical records and worked in admissions before joining Sunrise. I have always enjoyed learning different roles and gaining new experiences.
I have always had a close relationship with my grandmother, and that has guided my career path. My favorite part about working in senior housing is connecting with residents and families. I enjoy bringing a smile to residents’ faces and am always here to support them on their bad days.
Sunrise does a great job of investing time in their employees’ training. Although I have been in the industry for a while, I am always soaking up new information. Sunrise has a great support system, and if I have a question, I am always able to reach out to sister communities or regional team members. Sunrise has great opportunities for growth, and I have learned so much since I started.
When I’m not working with families at Sunrise, I enjoy spending time with my nephew. I also enjoy visiting the local wineries with my friends, and I love to go to 80's concerts in Washington D.C."
"I have worked for Sunrise since July of 2017. Prior to moving to Virginia and joining Sunrise, I worked in the Director of Nursing role in a skilled, assisted living and behavioral health setting. I resided in Oregon prior to following my daughter to Virginia after the birth of my sweet grandson.
My favorite part of my job is building a team that enjoys coming to work every day and are excited to provide exceptional, heart-felt care to our residents. The best thing about working at Sunrise is the family-like environment that both staff and residents create.
In my spare time, I enjoy family time with my children and grandsons. I enjoy reading and hiking, but one of my new favorite activities is Roof Top Camping!"
"I have worked for Sunrise since 2010 and have been in the care and activities departments during that time. My career with Sunrise began in June 2010 at the Sunrise at Hunter Mill community. There, I was a care manager in the Reminiscence neighborhood. It was there that I fell in love with working with seniors living with different levels and types of dementia.
The best part of working at Sunrise is the family experience we share as a team. I love that my job allows me to be creative while also learning from others. I am fortunate that I am able to see the best parts of our residents as they share their past lives and legacy with our staff and with one another. I truly love the innovative Live with Purpose programming that encourage residents to engage, enjoy, express, learn, and grow in our communities.
If I weren’t an employee already, I would be a volunteer with Sunrise because I enjoy helping others and gaining wisdom from the residents."
