Residents at Sunrise of Bonita, CA, love chicken and fish meals, especially the signature dish of pan seared cod with white wine butter garlic sauce.
Each year on Independence Day, we host our most special celebration of the year. We host a large family barbecue complete with all the fixings – grilled chicken, hot dogs, homemade coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans and fruit salad. For dessert, we prepare our special homemade ice cream. Yum! Our dining team loves celebrating holidays and we are always looking for ways to come up with new and exciting recipes to delight our residents’ taste buds.
Our residents’ input is very important and taken into consideration when creating the dining menu and our dining team meets with all residents to ask what they’d like to see. Additionally, we hold “chef chats” once a week which gives our lead cook a chance to get to know our residents and their individual tastes and preferences. “Family Night” is hosted on a monthly basis, where we showcase a special dish to residents and their visiting family members.
Our lead cook, Unika Ivory, has been with Sunrise for eight years and began as a care manager until she found her way to the kitchen. Unika’s passion to cook is evident in her delicious meals and she is always eager to learn new things. Our community is very multicultural, which offers her the opportunity to keep our menu’s offerings fresh and diverse. We feel very lucky to have her!
