Our Executive Director has been here over 10 years, our Management staff has over 100 years experience in this industry, and over half of our front line team has been here for over 5 years!
Eugenia has worked in the Assisted Living Industry in California since 1994. Eugenia is a long term volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association; she has Chaired or Co-Chaired many events over the years, served on the Board of Directors and was the Chair of the Board from 2010-2012. Eugenia serves the local community by volunteering with the Magdalena Ecke YMCA and has been on the Board there since 2007. Eugenia has cared for two family members with Alzheimer’s and knows first hand how devastating the disease can be to a family. Eugenia and her husband have lived in North county since 1997 and love spending time camping or at the beach with their 5 year old son.
Catherine has over thirty years of nursing experience with a focus on caring for seniors. Catherine is a wealth of information and has wonderful working relationships with local physicians and other care providers. Catherine’s own father in law lived at Sunrise La Costa. Catherine is a native of Southern California and has two grown sons. She and her husband enjoy skiing, concerts, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Senior Living is Kendra’s second career. Kendra worked for Apple for several years before leaving in 2005 to pursue her true calling of caring for seniors. Kendra become a certified Validation Worker through the International Validation Institute training under Rita Altman, Vice President of Memory Care at Sunrise and one of the only five Validation Masters in the World. Kendra and her team have found that using Validation has helped them to better support the residents. Kendra is also a licensed RCFE Administrator. Kendra is a native of San Diego and enjoys spending time with her family especially her nephew and nieces.
Mirayda has the honor of being the first the Coordinator of the first ever Terrace Club. In 2005 we were chosen to pilot a day program for residents with mild cognitive impairment and Mirayda chosen to coordinate it. Mirayda’s previous experience working in our Reminiscence neighborhood helped her to make this new program as successful as it is. Mirayda began working at Sunrise La Costa when her oldest daughter was 3yrs old. Now she is 16 and coming to Sunrise La costa to volunteer her time and gain experience for her future plans. Mirayda in born and raised in Encinitas and has a total of three daughters and loves spending time with her family.
Jacques originally joined Sunrise to open Sunrise of La Jolla. Once that community was up and running her transferred to Sunrise La Costa. Jacques trained in classical French cuisine in his home town of Paris, France. Later Jacques moved to Montreal Canada and then in 1974 moved to Minneapolis MN to open the first French hotel in USA. Jacques and his wife have two daughters and many grandchildren. Jacques is very involved in his church and spends much of his free time volunteering there.
Sally is most often the first voice and face of Sunrise at La Costa. Warm and compassionate with our prospective families, she listens to everyone with an understanding of their individual situations. She is very proud of our resident centered community and her long tenured team that she calls her “West Coast” family.
Patty began her career with Sunrise as a volunteer. Volunteering one day a week grew into five and before you know it Patty had the job. Patty truly loves planning activities for the residents and will try anything once. The residents appreciate Patty’s bubbly personality and how she will listen to them and work with them to come up with activities everyone enjoys. Patty has two grown children and one granddaughter who just celebrated her first birthday.
Jose has held several different positions in the community but has been the Maintenance Coordinator since 2003. Jose prides himself on knowing the community inside and out and maintaining it in the very best condition possible. Jose enjoys helping the residents to be as comfortable as possible in their new home. Jose has two grown daughters and a passion for racquetball.
