"I have worked with Sunrise for almost thirteen years. I first started as a caregiver and have held many roles throughout my tenure at Sunrise such as Lead Care Manager, Concierge, and Business Office Coordinator. Sunrise of San Marino is truly home for me and, has really created the foundation for me to grow professionally . In addition I’m currently working on my Masters in Health Administration."
I love that we are continuously changing procedures and incorporating new training curriculum to better serve the needs of our residents. It’s rewarding to see family members of our residents finding comfort in knowing that their loved ones are safe and being cared for in a personal way and knowing that my team’s effort played a part in it."
I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to work in an organization that helps cultivate friendships amongst our team members and residents. The relationships I’ve made with my residents throughout the years have shaped my ideologies and goals in life , and I’m proud to be able to provide this level of care at a community that shares it as a value.
I’m a kid at heart and so I enjoy going to Disneyland with my son, I also like to jog, and I enjoy finding new cuisines in the area.
"I have been with Sunrise since October 2019. Prior to coming to Sunrise, I worked in multiple areas of nursing, including the Operating Room, Hospice, Home Care, Acute Care and Geriatrics.
Before becoming a nurse, I was an Art Director on the East Coast"
Joana’s favorite part of the job, the stories! I love hearing about the fascinating lives of our residents and all of the things that have seen and experienced.
"In my spare time I enjoy art openings with my husband, explore my new city, travel and watch movies."
Rita began her journey working with seniors when she received her master's degree in aging services management from the University of Southern California. She finds it rewarding to know she is a resource for families during what is sometimes a difficult decision making process, saying "I am grateful for the opportunity I have been given to positively impact a senior's life and provide them with a loving and caring home."
In her free time, Rita enjoys hiking, traveling, playing with her dogs, and spending time with her loved ones.
Penny has been with Sunrise since 2003. She’s worked as a care coordinator in both assisted living and our Reminiscence memory care neighborhood. Before joining Sunrise, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Penny’s favorite part of working at Sunrise is getting to help not only the residents on a daily basis, but also their families. Penny strives to make the residents smile, laugh, or engage in a life skill each day to ensure they’re having pleasant days.
In her spare time, Penny enjoys spending time with her husband and son. She loves to travel to different national parks and being together as a family.
Ella began her journey at Sunrise at San Marino in 2013. She began as a medication manager and wellness nurse before transitioning to her current role of assisted living coordinator. She has found great joy in being part of our residents’ lives and is honored to have the privilege of getting to know them.
Ella’s favorite Principle of Service is Celebrating Individuality, as all of our residents shine in their own way.
Liz has been with Sunrise since 2010 and started out as a concierge. She loves being around residents and feels like they are the grandparents she never had. Liz lives and breathes the Sunrise mission: "To champion the quality of life for all seniors". In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing and watching sports, especially softball.
Catherine has been working at Sunrise for almost 3 years now! Prior to Sunrise, she worked at a nursing home for 10 years in which she was an activities assistant and grew into the Activities Director position. Her favorite part of working at Sunrise is meeting the residents and finding out what they enjoy best.
She finds the most enjoyable part of working at Sunrise is being able to create fun memories with our residents and families.
In her spare time she enjoys being with her family, going hiking , and watching her favorite TV shows.
Rommel has been with Sunrise since 2012 and enjoys his daily interactions with residents and family members.
He appreciates Sunrise’s commitment to team members and loves that there are always opportunities to grow and be recognized.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and visiting his father.
