"My mother was diagnosed with dementia soon after my father died. Things were extremely tense at home. Mom was angry, unpredictable, refused to shower, often refused to eat, refused to do her laundry, or even allow me to assist her. Many times she tried to leave the house when we weren't watching. I chose Sunrise of Barrington for three reasons. Most importantly, I wanted Mom to be happy and well cared for. I wanted Mom close to me so I could visit her frequently, and I have a friend whose mother had lived there and she highly recommended Sunrise.

When moving day finally arrived, I was a nervous wreck. Mom was still so angry and just wanted to go home to Michigan, but there was no way she could live alone. After a week of acclimating, Mom was calm, talkative, relaxed, and so happy to see me. It was amazing. I see Mom almost every day now.
