"When I first walked in, I thought it’s probably the most beautiful building I’ve seen. It’s elegant, comfortable, and it seems to serve every purpose that might be needed—and that’s a lot of purpose. It helps people who need rest, and calm, and helps people who are injured. I arrived with a broken knee from an accident, with a brace on my leg. Now I’m leaving with no brace, relaxed, and happy. The people here make you feel so much at home and cared for. Every private room has one or two red cords that you are instructed to pull for help if needed and the help comes quickly. The food is wonderful; it is served well and they courteously give you choices you can make.
Overall, my stay here was has been comfortable and reassuring. There is not a moment where I have been worried or not well taken care of. I am looking forward to the time when I can come back without a broken leg to just enjoy myself." –Mary Alice B, resident
“Cannot thank you enough for taking such loving care of our mother. Being 22,000 miles from her is difficult, but Sunrise of Barrington is the perfect spot for her.” –Resident’s child
"My mother was diagnosed with dementia soon after my father died. Things were extremely tense at home. Mom was angry, unpredictable, refused to shower, often refused to eat, refused to do her laundry, or even allow me to assist her. Many times she tried to leave the house when we weren't watching. I chose Sunrise of Barrington for three reasons. Most importantly, I wanted Mom to be happy and well cared for. I wanted Mom close to me so I could visit her frequently, and I have a friend whose mother had lived there and she highly recommended Sunrise.
When moving day finally arrived, I was a nervous wreck. Mom was still so angry and just wanted to go home to Michigan, but there was no way she could live alone. After a week of acclimating, Mom was calm, talkative, relaxed, and so happy to see me. It was amazing. I see Mom almost every day now. The entire staff at Sunrise always makes me feel welcome, and because I am there so often, I have seen how all the care managers and nurses treat each resident with love, compassion, and respect. My husband and I know most of Mom's neighbors and many of their families, so in a sense, Sunrise of Barrington has become our home too!" –Patricia B, resident’s child
