Executive Director

“I have always had a passion for working with seniors and have held many roles in the senior care industry throughout my career. I have been a licensed administrator for Residential Care for the Elderly (RCFE) since 2001 and have had the privilege to serve as an Executive Director for Sunrise since 2006. 

My favorite part of my job is building lasting relationships with residents, families and team members.  I appreciate the opportunity to make seniors’ lives better and value working with a team that strives for excellence, high customer satisfaction levels and team member engagement.

In my spare time, I like to hike and participate in my local church. Also, I am movie buff.”

Director of Sales

"I began my career as a television news reporter. I specialized in human interest stories because I loved learning about people and their history. Everyone has a story to tell; whether it's a doctor who flew her own plane to remote areas of the country to provide medical care for those in need, to a gang member who decided to change his life.

Ten years ago, I decided to work in senior living after my grandmother moved to a community. I had a very close relationship with my grandmother, and I realized I could make a difference in seniors' lives. I have met so many seniors with amazing stories to tell. It is my mission to help seniors find the right community for this chapter of their lives.

In my spare time, I enjoy riding my bike on the beach, practicing yoga, walking my dog and the performing arts."


matt allenMatt Allen

Associate Director of Sales

Matt graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Art History and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Originally from Michigan, Matt considers Los Angeles his home and enjoys being part of the Beverly Hills community.  Matt started his journey in senior living in 2011. He joined the Sunrise team in 2017 where he has held positions as both activities assistant and activities coordinator. Most recently, Matt joined the sales team as the associate director of sales. Matt is really enjoying helping new families find their home at Sunrise of Beverly Hills.

Outside of Sunrise, Matt avidly participates in tennis, yoga, meditation, hiking, fine arts, and recently became a dog dad with the adoption of a 12-year-old senior rescue chihuahua named Oliver.


Laurie Elliott | Resident Care Director

Laurie Elliott

Resident Care Director, RN, LMFT

I was raised in Melbourne Beach, FL, and attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV. I graduated from nursing school as a registered nurse and also completed a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology. I then completed the Critical Care Course for new graduates and started my career as an RN in the CCU/CVICU. After several years of clinical experience, I worked as a traveling nurse, working at several major medical centers including New York University and University of California, Los Angeles. 

During this time, my father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. It was this personal event that would give me passion for working with seniors with special needs. After his death, I pursued a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles. I then completed my internship in individual, group and family counseling at the Maple Counseling Center and Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services, and I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist. 

My formal training as both a nurse and psychotherapist, along with my deep commitment to helping seniors is what led me to Sunrise. I have been the Resident Care Director at Sunrise of Beverly Hills since September 2010.


nancy mayaNancy Maya

Reminiscence Coordinator

Nancy has been in senior care since 2013. Prior to this, she worked with elementary and high school students.  Although she loved working with children, it was at Sunrise where she truly discovered her passion for working with seniors.  At Sunrise of Beverly Hills, Nancy has held positions of care manager, lead care manager, mentor and assisted living supervisor.  In 2019, Nancy received her administrator license for Residential Care for the Elderly (RCFE) and in 2020 she became the assisted living coordinator for Sunrise of Playa Vista. A year later, Nancy transferred back to Beverly Hills as the reminiscence care coordinator.  Nancy says, “there is no bigger paycheck than a smile, a hug or a thank you from one of my residents or families.”  

Sunrise has become Nancy’s home away from home and she only wishes her 7-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, Mimie, could come to Sunrise with her every day. Nancy is excited about her future with Sunrise and will continue to grow and expand her horizons.


sam moghaddamfarSam Moghaddamfar

Assisted Living Coordinator

Sam was born in Connecticut and raised in Dallas, TX.  He received his Bachelors of Science in Applied Gerontology at the University of North Texas and earned his Master’s in Aging Services Management from the University of Southern California. He has worked in the field of gerontology since 2008.  Sam became interested in senior care when he started, part-time, at his first assisted living company in Texas. Just shortly after he was hired, he knew that this is what he wanted for his future, that this was what made him happy and fulfilled his purpose.

Sam began his Sunrise career as a concierge in 2013. Two years later, he transitioned to providing care in the assisted Living neighborhood and shortly after was promoted to the assisted living coordinator at Sunrise of Beverly Hills. He currently holds a license in Resident Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE), provided by the State of California. In addition to his role as assisted living coordinator, Sam is also a job coach within the greater Los Angeles area, helping other new coordinators learn the ways of Sunrise.


laurie christiansonLaurie Christianson

Business Office Coordinator

Laurie has been fulfilling our Sunrise mission, to champion quality of life for all seniors, for nearly 20 years. She has served Sunrise as a concierge, resident care coordinator, and finally found her niche as a business office coordinator in 2006. Laurie thrives on creating meaningful personal connections with our residents, their families, and the team members at Sunrise. She formally mentors Sunrise team members through the Sunrise Job Coach Program, and informally throughout Sunrise by embracing our Team Member Credo. Multiple leaders at Sunrise of Beverly Hills (and beyond) began their Sunrise careers under her guidance. 

As a woman of faith born and raised on the Southern California coast, Laurie enjoys time with family, her dog Watson, and the satisfaction of a completed jigsaw puzzle.


ruth martinezRuth Martinez

Dining Services Director

With a passion for cooking and food service, Ruth attended “Le Cordon Bleu” and graduated in culinary arts. In 2014, Ruth began her Sunrise career as a cook at Sunrise of Beverly Hills. Her passion for working with seniors and her love of food quickly got her the lead cook role and then the dining services coordinator role.

Ruth’s passion is her hobby and according to her, “there is nothing better than doing what you love, for a living!” Ruth continues, “I am grateful to work at Sunrise. I love catering to our residence with heart and utmost care. This is not just a job for me it is a dedication to accomplish something more and make a difference.”
