At Sunrise ofChandler, AZ, our dining services team works together with our residents to help to ensure an enjoyable dining experience. Each month, we hold resident council and food committee meetings which allow our residents to play a big part in how the dining experience is conducted. In our meetings, some of our residents even provide recipes that were handed down to them by their grandparents! Dishes that have proven to be less popular are reviewed and replaced by ones that residents would like to see more frequently. By far, the braised chicken thigh is our most popular dish.
Another resident favorite is sweet potato. We incorporate it in a variety of dishes such as bisque, wedges and casserole. Baked and maple sweet potatoes are two highly requested styles of cooking them.
We are proud of our diverse menu, which represents a wide variety of cultures. Aside from having two hot entrees and one cold entrée to choose from, we also have the “always available” menu.
All of this is made possible with the dedication of our dining services coordinator, Norman M. Hofer. Prior to working at our community, he ran his own catering business for eight years. After growing close to the residents, he feels confident he has made the right career choice and says, “what better way to serve them than being a dining services coordinator!”
