"My journey to senior care starts with my parents. My mom was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1983 and my family has been taking care of her through the disease process since. During that time, I have seen the care provided to my mom by both skilled and respite communities for short term rehabilitation stays and felt that I could contribute to helping seniors live happier and healthier lives when they need it. My property management skills were learned through managing Las Vegas resorts, coupled with my personal knowledge of being a caregiver, provide me with a different insight on how to manage our community for the betterment of our residents. I feel so lucky to have found Sunrise, whose principles so well matched those of my family when we looked for help with my mom. I look forward to helping you and your family with your care needs at Sunrise of Crystal Lake."

"I have worked with Sunrise since February of 2018. I have over 20 years of sales management experience with the last four being in the healthcare field. Just prior to Sunrise, I was in a similar role at a Memory Care Community. Before joining a community environment, I worked for a home health care agency assisting families with at home care needs. I found a passion for working with seniors when I decided to go back to school to potentially be a nurse. As time passed, I discovered a case manager role was more the direction I wanted to go, and I love that I can use those skills to be a better advocate for our resident’s and their families. 

My favorite part of my job is being able to partner with families during their journey of choosing a community for their loved one. It’s an honor to a part of this decision-making process with them. Once a resident moves in and the family sees how happy, loved, and full of purpose their loved one is….it’s an unbelievable feeling knowing that I have helped change their lives.     

I love spending time with our resident’s getting to know their stories, their history, and their passions. Sunrise brings out the true joy and the realness of our residents.  They SMILE every day, and it is a privilege to work in their home.

My own family is also very important to me. I spend as much time with my husband and step daughter as I can. We love being outdoors, family game nights, going to the movies, and traveling. We have a bucket list of beaches that we want to vacation to! I am currently working towards my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services."

“I started as a server in the dining room and have transitioned into several roles at Sunrise, but when this activity position opened up I felt it was made for me! I wanted to see the residents come to life! I am able to use my education, love of art and natural talents to enhance the quality of life of our residents. I spent a lot of time in other nursing homes when my dad and grandmother were sick and it was so depressing. I was so impressed by the level and quality of care that Sunrise provided in such a beautiful, cozy atmosphere!”

Resident Care Coordinator

"I joined the Sunrise team in 2015 as a part time Designated Care Manager. My background is in Early Childhood Education and school administration. My transition to senior care came after caring for my father in our home during his battle with lung cancer. During this journey we were blessed to have had the support of a number of compassionate and caring individuals in the hospice and senior health care field. After the passing of my father I felt a deep sense of calling and a desire to give back.

Throughout my tenure at Sunrise I have dedicated myself to this mission. The training, continuing education, and hands on experience that I received at Sunrise lead to my promotion to the Assisted Living Coordinator position in 2016 and in 2017 I was given the opportunity to move into the Resident Care Coordinator role and take on the responsibility of working with our Memory Care residents as well. 

Providing excellent care, supporting our seniors and their loved ones, and developing and training the front line care team at has been my honor and my passion. My personal experiences with my own father have provided me with a deep sense of empathy and understanding that I believe allows me to truly connect with our families at Sunrise. I love working alongside our team and with our residents to experience joy in everyday moments at our community.

My husband and I live in Woodstock. We have four wonderful grown children and a beautiful daughter-in-law. We love the outdoors, hiking, listening to and performing Bluegrass music, and college football. ROLL TIDE!"

Sunrise of Crystal Lake Team Member Deena “I have been with Sunrise since 2013. Previously, I managed a coffee shop and over the years refined my love of coffee. Our Sunrise AVC was a customer and she encouraged me to join the Sunrise team, and I'm so thankful she did. I started in the dining room, but during my time here I've joined the concierge team and the marketing team as a sales assistant. I love having different roles at work—it brings opportunities to meet new people and family members and stay connected to the residents. It brightens my day, and I hope it brightens theirs as well.
If I'm not at work, I'm at home chasing my beautiful little boy. He keeps my husband and I on the move, so I usually have a coffee in hand and am always on the lookout for the next cup.”

“I was a flight attendant for United Airlines for 18 years, and resigned to stay home and raise my children. Sunrise is my first job back in the workforce. It’s been a wonderful experience, not only for me, but for my family. My children love to come visit with the residents any chance they get. This job has given me more than words can say. Sunrise—the residents and the employees—become part of your extended family!”

"Meeting the needs of residents and their family members at Sunrise is personally rewarding. Watching residents come to life when laughing, joking, or simply having lengthy conversations with them is great fun. It gives them an opportunity to smile and be joyful. Working at Sunrise, means that I get to make a positive difference in their day to day living. We give our residents a sense of purpose and I am so grateful I get to witness that first hand. "
