"I have worked at Sunrise of Exton for 17 years. I am so proud to call this community my home and have been given the opportunity for so much encouragement and growth. I started as a part time Concierge and after receiving my Bachelors in Social Work, I worked as the Lead Concierge then serve a majority of my time as the Activity & Volunteer Coordinator at the community. Being able to serve in one place for so long is a gift and I am so thankful to have met countless residents and families who have touched my heart so deeply.
As a certified Validation Group Practitioner, I have also learned how to grow closer with our residents using Validation principles and teach our team the importance of Validation within our roles in the community. Outside of Sunrise, I spend a lot of time with my family (and extended family). My children Hayden and Colton keep me very busy and we love creating memories together. I also serve as a Camp Director of Cedarbrook Camp in Pennsylvania, in which I have attend every summer since I was in the first grade. Camp holds a special place in my heart and I love being able to spend time in the summer with the campers and staff."
Kim has recently joined the Sunrise family and is excited to be the leader of our newly expanded Reminiscence Neighborhood. Kim is excited to make a difference in the lives of residents and to ensure that the Neighborhood continues to maintain pleasant days for all our residents, families and visitors.
Kim currently holds her Personal Care Home Administrator’s License and a degree in Health Care Management. In addition to this, Kim has a variety of experience in working with seniors through Home Health.
When outside of the community, Kim enjoys spending time with her family and soaking in the sun while relaxing on the beach.
“My background and degrees are in social work. Of my 13 years as a social worker, much of my work involved a geriatric population. Working with seniors is truly where I am the happiest, which is why Sunrise has been a good choice for me.
My favorite part of my role here is knowing when I have made a difference in someone’s day, even for something that might otherwise seem insignificant. I feel lucky that these opportunities present themselves almost every day here.
When I’m not at Sunrise, I like to spend time with my husband and two teenage children, as well as my extended family (I have six siblings and an elderly mother). I also love to read and work in my yard.”
“I have worked for Sunrise as a coordinator for just shy of 10 years, I am a 3.8 GPA graduate of The Academy of Culinary Arts in Mays Landing, NJ, and I have 15 years of additional related experience.
My favorite part of my job is the feeling of accomplishment when I have happy and satisfied residents at the end of the meal (“the second paycheck”), as well as presenting food demonstrations for our residents.
In my spare time, I am a husband and step-parent of two boys, who are 11 and 15. I am a hummingbird enthusiast - I love my H-birds! I also enjoy growing raspberries, hunting, fishing, going to the beach, surfing, snowboarding in the winter and just being outside.”
“I have worked with Sunrise since October 2015. I have 30 years of customer service experience.
I really enjoy interacting with our residents and listening to their journeys from the past and present. I appreciate the opportunity to help our new residents find their special place in their new home here at Sunrise of Exton.
In my free time, I enjoy helping seniors and autistic children learn calming strategies through Reiki.”
“For the past five years, I have worked with seniors and adults with disabilities. The residents are, hands down, the best part of my job! If I’m having a bad day, they make me feel better. I enjoy talking with and learning from our residents.
Outside of work, I enjoy going to the movies and hanging out with my family.”
Candice has been with Sunrise of Exton for three years and started as a Care Manager. Candice enjoys her time as a Lead Care Manager and has had to the opportunity to spent a lot of time with residents one on one developing personal relationships. Being able to connect with a resident who lives in Reminiscence can be very special and helps to build trust between the resident and Lead Care Manager.
The best part of these connections for Candice is the ability to learn more about who the resident was and is today. While serving as Lead Care Manager you will see Candice often laughing and dancing, always trying to create a positive atmosphere.
Outside of the community, Candice enjoys spending time with her son and creating memories together. In the future, Candice aspires to be a dental hygienist.
“I have worked at Sunrise for 10 years. My favorite part of my job is interacting with our residents and hearing their stories. I also very much enjoy meeting the family members. Working for Sunrise brings me personal satisfaction. I feel rewarded at the end of the day knowing that I have helped to champion the quality of life for our seniors.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Tom, as well as my two girls. I also love to garden, exercise and take my dog for long walks.”
