We’re welcoming brighter days while continuing to promote health and safety.
The Sunrise of Flossmoor team has been a pillar in the Homewood-Flossmoor area since 2000. We take an active role in our community, attend local churches and proudly wear our Sunrise name badges. Together, we have raised thousands of research dollars for the Alzheimer’s Association, host support groups focused on caregiver burnout and dementia support, and promote various charities that our residents participate in. We are very proud of our Sunrise family and look forward to meeting you!
"I began my career with Sunrise of Lincoln Park in 2003 when the community first opened, as a Care Manager, and prior to becoming an Executive Director, I was the Resident Care Coordinator.
The best part of my job is enriching the lives of the seniors we serve every day, by creating an atmosphere of warmth, comfort, and security for our residents. Walking in the door at Sunrise of Flossmoor, it feels like home, and what an honor it is to be able to work in someone’s home. I really enjoy getting to know our residents and listening to their life stories, as we truly have a lot to learn from their experiences.
When I am not at work, I like to travel, and I enjoy spending time with my family and friends."
"I started working in senior living 10 years ago in Arizona. My career started as a dining room care manager in an assisted living neighborhood and was shortly promoted to care manager/medication manager in a memory care neighborhood. I took a break from senior living for 3 years and spent some time working as a medical assistant in a level one trauma hospital in Arizona. My passion for senior living is so strong that it led me to pursue my bachelor's degree in health care administration from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. I have worked with Sunrise since February of 2020 at our Danville, CA community as an Associate Director of Sales and recently promoted to Director of Sales at our Flossmoor, IL community.
In my spare time, I love to be outdoors with my husband and two pups or watching a baseball game (Go D-backs!)"
“I have been caring for seniors for almost 20 years and have loved every minute of it. I was raised in a very tight family that always respected and cherished their elders. I bring those same morals and values with me to work every day. I have made great friends at Sunrise and developed deep bonds with the residents and their families. It truly is a second family to me.
I wanted to work for an organization that I could be proud of. From the moment I walked in the door, I knew this was my new home. I have not been disappointed.”
My name is Zakiyyah Ali, and I have had the privilege of serving as an Activity & Volunteer Coordinator with Sunrise for over 4 years! I started out at the Sunrise of Fountain Square overseeing the programming for three neighborhoods (Assisted Living, Reminiscence, and Terrace Club) and eventually transferred to the Sunrise of Flossmoor! You might catch me leading SingFit (a signature music therapy program), walking around the community during our daily Walking Club, or on the bus headed to our next lunch outing destination! My favorite part of being with Sunrise is the ability and opportunity to connect with our residents. We truly are a family, residents and staff included, and I enjoy bringing a little bit of joy and excitement to our community each day! I sleep very well at night knowing the impact and the importance of my role. Small conversations, shared laughs, and unforgettable memories are what drive me to come in each day and contribute to our mission to champion the quality of life for all seniors. This position has made me a better person overall, and I am thankful for every moment spent here with my residents and staff.
"Prior to coming to Sunrise of Flossmoor, I was employed by the Homewood Fire Department for over 30 years, retiring as Fire Chief, as well as a Paramedic. I also worked construction/remodeling for years as a Union Electrician and Union Glazer. I am a member of the Parkview Christian Church and serve as an Elder and a Trustee. I have 2 children, 2 grandchildren, and 4 (4 legged )“grand dogs” who occasionally vacation at my house while their human family is away. I enjoy spending time with the residents and learning more about their life stories. I am always happy to help with whatever is needed, along with my trusty side kick Howie (the community dog)!"
Meet Howie! Howie is an instrumental part of our Sunrise of Flossmoor Family. Some of Howie’s favorite things are sunbathing outside, taking naps, snuggling with the residents, and puppy treats. When asked about his favorite moments at Sunrise, he told us “Bow wow, bow wow wow, bow wow, WOW!” Thank you Howie for all the love and laughter that you bring to our community! Such a good boy!
