Welcome to Sunrise of Highland Park. Sunrise Senior Living has devoted more than 30 years to championing the quality of life for all seniors. This is reflected in our team members who have a true passion in caring for our residents. We are delighted you are learning more about Sunrise of Highland Park team members. Our team looks forward to personally meeting you and your family. We welcome you to visit any day to see first hand our Sunrise Signature Experience.
“If you can look at life as a journey- it really is a pretty cool place to be. Unfortunately, the good, the bad and the ugly often follow it, but it is an amazing thing.
I learned very early in life that meeting people and being with people really is good for the soul. My family instilled that in me as I grew up. They inspired me to care for others no matter what. I watched each of them make a difference in everyone they came in contact with each day.
Growing up in that environment has helped me find compassion, integrity, and respect in what I do every day. Taking the approach of making a difference in everyone you come across, we find ourselves on the path with families, residents and our own team members.
I am excited to be apart Sunrise of Highland Park as your Executive Director. For multiple years, I have had the opportunity to guide families through the maze of aging in place, connecting people with assistance, and developing true belief in the sacred value of human life with dignity, passion, respect and building trust.”
“I love knowing every day is going to be different. I also know that sometimes when I meet a family for the first time, they are going through a new and often difficult process. As the Director of Sales, I have met a lot of families. We have laughed, cried, hugged, and learned together. A lot of times families will say to me “you must hear this all the time” regarding their loved ones but the thing is, although situations may be familiar, every experience a family is going through is different.
That’s why I love working at Sunrise; we are not a one-size fits all community. Every resident and every family member has a different story to tell, and I want to hear all of them. It means the world to me that families can trust me when they are feeling vulnerable or scared of what is to come. I know the importance of having honest conversations about how Sunrise can mold our environment to meet the care, social, and spiritual needs of all our residents. The decision to move into a community like Sunrise is a big one, and it is my passion to provide the necessary information and education to families to hopefully make the journey a little easier and less stressful.”
“My path to Sunrise was not a typical one. After having a career in law, I began to feel that I was missing something. With the advice of a family member, I decided to explore Sunrise Senior Living as a possible ‘feel good’ filler to what was missing in my life. With no prior experience in senior care, I took a chance and applied for a Designated Care Manager position. I knew from the moment I walked through the door that this is where I was meant to be.
It’s hard to believe that it has been over a decade since I joined the team at Sunrise of Highland Park. I have worked my way through different care roles in the community before moving up to Resident Care Coordinator. I love being in an environment where I can make positive changes in people’s lives every day. It truly is a pleasure being able to care for people who have lived such rich and robust lives. We have a lot to learn from our seniors, so I make sure to take time every day to listen to their stories and wisdom and use that positive energy in my own life.”
“I love working with the residents because every day I learn something new from them. The knowledge and life stories they are able to pass on to me is just so precious to me. Sunrise is just one big family. The environment is always great and there is never a dull moment at Sunrise.”
“I have been working at Sunrise Senior Living of Highland Park for many years. I started out as a Care Manager, then a Lead Care Manager and am now a Life Enrichment Manager (LEM). I was encouraged by my department coordinator to apply for the Life Enrichment Manager position because I am good with my residents, especially in a one-on-one setting. I truly love working as an LEM because I love making my residents as happy as they can be and connecting with them so I can reach the true person inside. Sunrise provides inspiration to push ourselves to be the very best for our residents.”
“I have worked various roles in the senior care industry and have spent the last few years as the Activities and Volunteer Coordinator at Sunrise of Highland Park. I have a background in social work, but I prefer a career where I can be more hands-on in my approach for senior care…so much so that I am also working on a masters in occupational therapy!
My favorite part about my job is being able to bring enjoyment and fulfillment in the later years of people’s lives. We definitely celebrate the joy in every day by making sure our residents are engaged and happy in their Sunrise home. Living with purpose is such a vital part of what we do at Sunrise. I like to take the time to learn about all our resident’s life history so I can tailor our activities according to their personalities. We certainly are not a just" bingo and game shows on repeat" community as we have the whole Downtown of Highland Park at our disposal. Look for us on one of our many outings to dinner, art shows, and even baseball games (go Cubbies)!
At Sunrise, I know I’m working with a team that is as passionate and caring for the residents as I am.”
“Since I was a little boy, I’ve had a passion for cooking and making people happy. Sunrise gave me the opportunity to showcase my professional skills and to create the best team I’ve ever had. The motto “To champion the quality of life for all seniors” is why I chose Sunrise and why I have stayed for so long. Looking back on my experience with Sunrise, I’ve enjoyed every single day in bringing joy to our residents. Sunrise is a second family to me.”
“Being a Dining Room Supervisor gives me great privilege to learn what type of food our residents like and dislike. I also like giving our residents the fine dining quality service that they deserve. During meal times, this gives me a great opportunity to interact with our residents and to make their time with us even better. Aside from it being a few steps from my house, working at Sunrise with our residents gives me great joy knowing that I’m giving back to those who have helped generations before me. Hearing their stories and getting to know them on a personal level is very rewarding. Along with the residents, working with my team is always wonderful.”
