Melissa Daley

Executive Director

I have been with Sunrise Senior Living since 2007. 

I enjoy spending quality time with my residents and team members and trying to make each day pleasant for our residents.

The best part of working for Sunrise is our founders story and mission statement. I love that each day we are guided by our mission statement, principles of service and team member credo. 

In my spare time I like to exercise, shop and spend time with my family. 


Adrine Njeri

Lead Care Manager

"I have been with Sunrise for 10 years. I have a passion for serving seniors, and I take care of my own mother outside of work.

I love to communicate with the residents and make them feel happy and safe. They rely on me to take care of them and they trust me. In turn I get so much joy from seeing them every day and building those relationships.”




David Ruiz

Reminiscence Medication Technician

“I have been with Sunrise since 2012. I have always enjoyed helping people, which is why I wanted to work for Sunrise.

I love to interact with the residents. I read the individualized service plan so I can get to know the residents before I go in and say I’m there to give them medication. First, I go in and talk to them about something they like, that way when I try to give them their medications it is a smoother process.

In my spare time, I like to go camping and work on cars.”


Toni Smith

Assisted Living Coordinator

“I started at Sunrise as a wellness nurse and was quickly promoted to the Assisted Living Coordinator position. Before going to nursing school, I was the Dining Room Manager for an assisted living community.

I love working with our residents every day. They bring a smile to my face, regardless of what is going on. At Sunrise, we foster a family environment.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also stay busy with all my daughter’s extracurricular activities as well.”


Linda Ramirez

Life Enrichment Manager

“I have more than 20 years of experience in the medical field. At Sunrise, I love the atmosphere, the team members and what they stand for, and the compassionate and caring attitude of the team. As a Life Enrichment Manager, I have the flexibility to assist any resident at any time who needs special attention. This is especially helpful for new residents who are confused and need someone with them to help them.

There was a new resident, Patsy, who moved in and was very angry. She didn’t want to participate in anything and wouldn’t eat. I spent a lot of time reading her individualized service plan and talking to her family. When I found out that every morning Patsy used to go out and water her garden, I introduced her to our beautiful patio. Now, every morning after she eats breakfast, we water the garden together. This has helped her calm down. I think everyone has different gifts and talents and I feel like I’ve found my gift in working with people with dementia. It comes naturally to me.

When I’m not at Sunrise, I have a very close family and four grandchildren with whom I like to spend time. I am also a big reader and collect candles, some of which I never light because they’re too pretty!”


Joel Romero

Dining Services Coordinator

“I have been working in the kitchen since I was 19 years old and have been a member of the Sunrise team since 2010.

My favorite thing to cook is desserts, particularly fruit tarts. I love to make the residents feel special. When residents have really specific requests, I will go out and talk to them to make sure I’m making something they will want and like. I know it makes them feel special and it makes me feel good too.”



Frederic Rebufat

Business Office Coordinator

“I have a degree in business and prior experience in the banking industry.

My favorite part of my job at Sunrise is acting as the contact for everything financial, and also helping our families with any questions they may have.

I spend time with the residents and make them smile every chance I get. It really makes me love coming to work every day."



Kay Nestel

Maintenance Coordinator

“I have been with Sunrise for the past 10 years after retiring from Sperry.

My favorite part of my job is being able to make a difference in our residents’ lives on a daily basis. I enjoy working with the residents at Sunrise of Hillcrest.

In my spare time, I like to go kayaking, fishing, camping and swimming in the great state of Texas."
