“I have always enjoyed working in the geriatric field. My first job was working as a waitress in an assisted living community. I knew then that I wanted to work with seniors more. Every day I have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others, and knowing that is very rewarding.
I like the support that is provided by the entire management group at Sunrise. The company provides an opportunity to expand my knowledge and continue to grow as a person within the company.
As the mother of a 10-month-old little girl, I find most of my spare time goes to my daughter, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m enjoying every one of her milestones and watching her grow.”
“I have been working in senior living business offices for more than 19 years before joining the Sunrise family. I love working at Sunrise and I am fortunate to live right across the street from the community!
There is a lot to love about my job, but one of my favorite parts is being able to work closely with the residents and their families. This really gives me the opportunity to spend time getting to know them very well.
“I have been working in the senior living industry for more than 10 years, but have been with the Sunrise of La Jolla team since 2015. Before transitioning to maintenance coordinator, I had the opportunity to serve in the care and activities areas as well.
I found my passion as the maintenance coordinator here in the community because I truly see my role making a difference in the residents’ lives. Each day I am able to serve them and make their Sunrise home the safest and best place to be.
When I have free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and my beloved pets. I also love to travel and take every chance I get to experience all that life has to offer.”
“I grew up in Maine, and always had a passion for cooking while growing up. Before joining the Sunrise team as the dining services coordinator, I served in the United States Navy, traveling all over the world and serving our country.
Now, I get the opportunity to serve our residents here at La Jolla every day. I take pride in providing superior product and service to our Sunrise family.
“Before joining the La Jolla family as the Activities and Volunteer Coordinator in 2016, I was the Activity Director for another senior living community for 11 years. Prior to my involvement in activities, I worked in development and membership for a large arts organization.
I enjoy being able to provide our residents with activities that bring joy and excitement to their days. I like to say that I have the ’fun’ job. Being able to interact with the residents on a daily basis gives me the opportunity to really get to know them and build a great trust and relationship.
