"Mom and Dad moved into Sunrise 3 years ago. Since then they have gained such quality of life, more than we ever imagined. The dedicated staff at Sunrise have taken great care of them both and continue to support their needs in many ways. Mom loves the crafting activities and baking days as that was her favorite thing to do before entering the Sunrise community. Dad enjoys playing Crib with other residents and walking in the garden. We are so blessed to have Mom and Dad together, on the North Shore where they lived and in such a kind and comforting place as Sunrise. We could not of asked for or found a better place for their sunset years than Sunrise." –Resident's child
"It was a major family decision when it came time for our Dad to move from independent living. For us, Sunrise was the first choice, knowing how well they cared for other friends who live and have lived there. The atmosphere is very much like a warm home, which is very important for us. Caring and genuine staff have made the transition for our father easier. We are grateful to Sunrise and happy that our father is enjoying his time in his new home." –Resident's child
"During these difficult times of COVID-19, the team at Sunrise has done an exceptional job of caring for my father... In what has been an extremely challenging year for seniors, I sincerely feel Sunrise has done a wonderful job of keeping my father safe and active. I trust and appreciate the efforts of everyone at Sunrise and the genuine dedication and creativity they have demonstrated during the fourteen months dad has been in residence." –Resident's child
“My mom, aunt, and uncle were very impressed with Sunrise due to its care and warmth it embodies. My mom loved all the wood in the building, the garden patio, and all the lovely pets she came across on her visit. It made her day. Overall, this is where she wants her next chapter of her life to be.” –Resident’s child
"Thank you all for such devoted care to my mother during her stay here. She loved it here. I know she felt safe and cared for well. I am so grateful to all of you for helping to make her life as happy as it could be. Especially thanks for your delicate care while she was in palliative care. It was very comforting for us to see her so well looked after by such caring staff. Thank you!” - Resident's child
"Mom was very much loved in her new ‘home’ at Sunrise of Lynn Valley. She receives hugs and enjoys laughter with her many new friends. Mom and I spent every minute of the last few days of her life together, and she endured the final days with the same grace and dignity that were so characteristic of her earlier years.” –Resident’s child
"When my mom first learned she was to live at Sunrise, she protested. She didn’t want to live among strangers. Nearly five years later, it was anything but! She could not have been a part of a kinder place, surrounded by more loving and compassionate caregivers, whom she loved in return. When she became ill five months ago and relating to others became the focal aspect of her life, this warm relationship with staff was even more important to her well-being. My mother lived her last years happy and surrounded by love – thank you Sunrise and all your wonderful people!” –Resident’s child
“You all have made my last days and months much happier with my mom. It has been very comforting to know that my mom was always cared for. Your care, kindness and help with my mom has been awesome. Her ‘celebration of life’ party was amazing. Thanks to all!” –Resident’s child
“Upon visiting Sunrise, we were encouraged by the sense of community we felt within the facility. The residents were active and engaged, and the staff appeared to be attentive to the their needs. Of course, we needed proof that our initial impressions would be confirmed in the longer term. It has now been about a month since Mom has been under your care at Sunrise and we cannot be more pleased with her progress and how your staff treats her. Mom is demonstrative in her appreciation of your staff with the many smiles she gives them when they approach to help. Not only are the care managers and the support staff on her floor superb, the entire staff throughout Sunrise is simply great. We truly appreciate everything that is being accomplished at Sunrise and now look forward to a brighter future for our mom.” –Resident’s child
“We were very impressed with how the family was treated during our mom's illness. For the first time I really felt that Sunrise had been home for my mother. The heart of Sunrise is not its attractive decor but the wonderful staff of care takers and nurses.” –Resident’s child
“On behalf of the family, I would like to extend our thanks and appreciation of the care you took with my mother. The four years she spent with you allowed her to continue, as much as possible, her independent style of living. The care shown to her by her care aids was heartening to the family.” –Resident’s child
“I wanted to write to you to thank you all personally for looking after my mom with so much caring compassion and respect. Through your kindness you helped her to feel comfortable and content in her last few years. I especially want to thank those of you who looked after my mom in her last few days. You showed her such gentle and sweet respect, keeping her pain under control, and as comfortable as was possible. She felt secure and confident, knowing she would be well-looked after and loved. You also supported my sisters and myself to look after mom and we were able to be with her, to say our goodbyes. All this has been a great comfort. Thank you all for your great kindness. It will not be forgotten.” –Resident’s child
“My family joins me in a very sincere thank you for your excellent care of my aunt. From the day she arrived at Sunrise you, as a team of caregivers, nurses, and other staff have worked hard to provide her with the best possible care so that she could continue to enjoy life as much as possible. It was not just the basics you provided but also the little things that you did; helping with the eyebrow pencil, making sure there was a glass of water beside her bed, and taking her to various entertainments on the ground floor. As a teacher, I would give you all an A+ on your care assignment.” –Resident’s child
