Meet some of the members of our outstanding team here at Sunrise of New City, NY.

elizabeth connorsElizabeth Connors

Executive Director

"I fell in love with seniors in 1997 when I was part of a team that opened a new Sunrise Community in Bergen County. The experience of working with families and our senior residents to have quality care in a beautiful setting really drew me in. Having been a family care giver to my own parents, I have a perspective that reminds me to take pause with families as they navigate their new roles and circumstances that bring them to Sunrise. As an Executive Director, I feel privileged to have been part of this every day for so many families over the years."

ericka sloanEricka Sloan

Director of Sales

"My favorite part of the job is helping and working with families to know that we are genuinely helping guide them towards a positive transition to Assisted Living. The best part about working at Sunrise of New City is our residents. I love talking with them, hearing about their lives, their interests and their families, and seeing how they thrive living here with us.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, shopping, and exercising."

Resident Care Director

"Prior to working for Sunrise, I worked for various home care and community based health care agencies for over 25 years. My favorite part of my job as the Resident Care Director is the opportunity to interact daily with residents and hear all the wonderful stories and helping them with whatever they may need. The best part of working for Sunrise is the comradery and compassion that is evident every day. I am excited to be part of such a great Team!

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and experimenting with diverse cuisines. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family."

Business Office Coordinator

"Prior to Sunrise, I was a co-partner in Car Carrier transportation company privately own by myself and my business partner. My favorite part of the job is building relationships with families, each resident, and being a positive impact on their lives each day. The best part of working at Sunrise of New City is wonderful support and team member camaraderie, the positive energy in seeing the activities and celebrations that are thoughtfully prepared for our residents each day, and to know that we are all doing our part to champion the quality of life for all seniors. My husband’s grandmother was a resident in our Sunrise community as well and we wouldn’t have chosen any other place for her to live.

In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family, friends and my “fluffy” Goldendoodle, Leo! I love to travel, cook and shop! I’m originally from Poland. I fluently speak English, Polish and can understand other Slavic Languages!"

joseph perrottaJoseph Perrotta

Dining Services Coordinator

"Prior to joining Sunrise, I owned my own restaurant from 1999-2006. Before that I worked in a large catering house in Westchester County. I started my career as a teenager in family owned restaurant business. Food is in my blood! My favorite part of the job is being able to interact with the residents and hearing their stories. The best part of working for Sunrise is they understand the needs of our seniors, and the culture of Sunrise is like no other. They embrace diversity, believe in their team, provide excellent service and show respect to all.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, my wife, my children, grandchildren and of course friends! I also enjoy woodworking and cooking!"

Arulvanitha Jesuthasan

Reminiscence Supervisor

“My favorite part of my job is helping my residents and making them happy. When they have a good day, it puts a smile on my face.

At Sunrise, work is fun because I get to work with such a wonderful group of people. Our residents also make each day enjoyable. Since joining Sunrise, I’ve learned that death isn’t scary; most times, it’s peaceful. I have also learned patience, which is vital to working at Sunrise. Most importantly, working at Sunrise has made me realize the importance of and appreciation for life.

In my spare time, I like to cook. My cooking varies from desserts, such as cakes and puddings, to dishes like pasta and traditional food from my country, Sri Lanka. I enjoy cooking for my family.”

Lisa Masbad

Life Enrichment Manager

“I have worked with Sunrise since September 2013. I started my Sunrise career as a concierge and activities assistant, and then became a life enrichment manager in the Reminiscence Neighborhood in the spring of 2015.

My favorite part of my job is getting to know each resident more personally, discovering their interests and creating activities that they will be able to engage in.

The best part of working at Sunrise is the satisfaction one gets from a resident’s reaction, whether it’s a smile, a hug, a kiss, or even a funny line that can be thrown at you unexpectedly. Working at Sunrise is all about the residents.

Outside of work, I am really a homebody. I enjoy staying at home and catching up on movies and television shows.”

Dayana Christophe

Concierge & Activity Assistant

“This August will be my 12th year at Sunrise of New City. I love to advocate for my residents and remember the little things, such as who likes to have their feet up or who likes to be the first in line for ice cream.  I enjoy having conversations with all my residents, especially taking trips down memory lane and sharing stories about their pasts.

The best part of my job is engaging my residents in different activities such as singing, magic shows, puzzles, trivia and teaching them how to use the latest technology, like iPhones and iPads.

As a parent, I love to spend time with my newborn and my 4-year-old son, and spending quality time with my family and friends.  I love attending Dominican College on the weekends where I am currently finishing up my master’s degree in occupational therapy.”

Filomena DePalma

“I have worked at Sunrise Senior Living for almost 10 years.  I was a cook in Italy and worked in delis and restaurants. I have 30 years of food experience, from when I lived in Italy, through working in the Bronx’s Little Italy neighborhood, to working here.

My favorite part of the job is providing the best quality of food for the residents. It must be the best! If the residents are happy, I’m happy.
I love to socialize with the residents. I love them! They’re like my second family.

In my spare time, I like to cook for my grandkids and friends. Every Sunday is my family’s Italian dinner!”

joseph trizzinoJoseph Trizzino

Maintenance Coordinator

"Prior to Sunrise, I worked for Electric Union. Making a difference for the residents by doing the little things for them, such as putting a picture up, fixing the TV, or checking the heat or A/C to make sure residents are comfortable are just a few of the things that I like doing. The best part of working at Sunrise is when I can get a smile for making someone's day a little better.

In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family. I also enjoy boating and working on houses."
