Sylvia Palmquist team member profile

Sylvia Palmquist

Director of Sales

During her time with Sunrise Senior Living, Sylvia has gained great respect for her fellow team members. She enjoys interacting with the residents and her fellow team members, and especially enjoys helping families support their loved ones. When families realize they have made the right choice for their mother, father or grandparent, it brings Sylvia immense joy. She feels it is a privilege and an honor to serve her Sunrise family. 

When Sylvia is not at work, she enjoys travel, fine dining, wine-tasting, spending time with her family and friends, attending a book club and playing golf. She has two adult sons and six grandchildren. 

Jewel Johnson team member profile

Jewel Johnson

Assisted Living Coordinator

Jewel has always loved caring for seniors.  When she joined the Sunrise family 17 years ago, she began as a caregiver and worked her way to the Assisted Living Coordinator position. She also spent time serving as the Reminiscence Coordinator, in which she trained, mentored and managed a team of caring hearts. 

Outside of work, Jewel spends time with her family and loves to read and listen to music.

Kathy Ochoa

Resident Care Director

Kathy has been in nursing since 1991 and worked 24 + years at a hospital and then 4+ years in with seniors at a different community, prior to joining our Sunrise of Northville family.

Kathy enjoys coming to work every day, saying "I enjoy helping seniors and being able to care for them and their families. It has been very satisfying."

Kathy is a proud wife, mother, and grandmother, and in her free time, she enjoys scrapbooking, painting, camping, and of course, spoiling the grandchildren!

Mike Wilson team member profile

Mike Wilson

Dining Services Coordinator

Mike graduated from Grand Rapids Community College School of Culinary Art and apprenticed at Marine Highlands Hotel in Scotland. He joined Sunrise in 2006 after working at an assortment of locations, including four-diamond resorts, private country clubs and large hotels. 

Michael finds his job extremely rewarding and enjoys getting to know our residents on a personal level. He meets with residents once a month and asks for their favorite recipes to recreate on “Chef’s Choice” nights. 

Outside of work, Mike enjoys the outdoors, especially hunting. He also enjoys coaching and being involved in youth sports, especially softball. He has been married to his wife, Bobbie, for 21 years and has a daughter attending Michigan Tech University.

Sonya Burton team member profile

Sonya Burton

Business Office Coordinator

Sonya has been at Sunrise for 17 years and has had several roles managing and taking care of our residents.  She currently is the Business Office Manager and handles resident billing, employee payroll and human resource issues.  She loves our seniors and their families.  

Outside of work, Sonya loves to be with her family and friends.

Marguerite Tate team memberMarguerite Tate

Activities & Volunteer Coordinator

Marguerite has been with Sunrise for five years and has had the pleasure of working with the residents in our Reminiscence Neighborhood prior to her Activities and Volunteer Coordinator position.  After college, she worked in the medical field for three years and as a sales representative for eight years.

Marguerite also has served as a care manager, lead care manager, medication manager and life enrichment coach. She enjoys Sunrise because it gives her a chance to broaden her career and serve with love.  

On the weekends, Marguerite works with her church to distribute food from the Forgotten Harvest program and share information to help people in need.
