We’re expanding operations and welcoming brighter days.
Meet some of the excellent members of our team here at Sunrise of Overland Park, KS.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my family at the lake. I love to fish and boat and enjoy watching beautiful sunsets from our dock.”
"I have been with Sunrise since August of 2019, prior to sunrise I spent time ( approx. 3 years total) in the Home health and hospice industry. Before I joined the Sunrise of Overland Park team, I partnered with family as one of my grandfather’s caregivers to help him age in place. I strongly credit my time with him as the reason I found my passion for senior care.
My favorite part of my job is that I find a lot of joy in prepping the community for visitors, residents and families. I always want to make sure it feels like home.
The best part of working at Sunrise is being able to bring Sunrise to more families.
In my spare time, I volunteer with the Alzheimer’s association and The Junior League of Wyandotte and Johnson Counties, and if I am not volunteering, I am probably playing sand volleyball."
"I have been with Sunrise Overland Park since June 2019. I have been an RN since 2006, with several years’ experience in Assisted Living/Long Term Care, Acute Cardiac care, and 13+ years Acute Inpatient Hospice Nursing, including two years managing the NorthCare Hospice House inpatient unit (North Kansas City Hospital), prior to joining the Sunrise Family.
My favorite part of my role at Sunrise is the time I have to build relationships with our residents and families. Daily interaction, conversation and hugs from our residents are “icing on the cake”.
The best part of working at Sunrise is that I love that there is such a Team environment here. There is such a tremendous amount of support available to everyone - regardless of your role. Sunrise does an excellent job of promoting within, and affords team members the opportunity to pursue their career goals.
Outside of work, I spend a great deal of time with my 3 daughters and 7 grandchildren, attending their sporting events and enjoying time outdoors. I love live music and enjoy attending local performances and concerts. I also make time each year to spend a week or two in South/SW Florida, my “home away from home”, where I lived for 10 years."
"I have been with Sunrise Overland Park since June 2018. Prior to that, I have been in elder-care roles since finishing graduate school in 2015 where I received my MS in Gerontology: the study of aging.
My favorite part of my role at Sunrise is the opportunities I have to develop close relationships with my residents; at Sunrise, our residents are our family.
The best part of working at Sunrise is that I love that I am able to bring my other love (Willie, Sunrise Community Pet and therapy dog) to Sunrise and share in the joy that he brings our residents and their families.
Outside of work, I love to garden, and I have a not-so-small addiction to houseplants. I also really love cooking and enjoying time with my husband and family playing board games or spending time on the porch.
An interesting fact about myself is that I put myself through college working in or managing greenhouses at garden stores in Shawnee and Manhattan Kansas. Bruce Webber and Bill Snyder’s K-State basketball and football coaches were good customers of mine at the garden store in Manhattan."
"I have been with Sunrise of Overland Park for 2 years but this is my 19th year working in the Senior Living industry.
My favorite part about my job is on boarding new team members and interviewing potential team members.
The best part about working for Sunrise is getting to work with an amazing team and developing relationships with the amazing residents.
In my spare time I love to spend time at the Lake of the Ozarks, cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, travel, garage sale shop, see movies, play card games, and spend time with my family."
"I started with Sunrise in the fall of 2015. Prior to joining the Sunrise of Overland Park team, I spent over 10 years in health care maintenance. My favorite part of working at Sunrise is helping residents and their families, in addition to trouble shooting and repairing issues. I love fixing things and solving problems.
The support and encouragement that I receive from team members of all levels, in the pursuit of completing all tasks, including those that go above and beyond industry standards. I am always empowered to put the resident’s needs first because they are the most important part of what I do.
I am a fundraiser and supporter of the Wounded Warrior project; I raise money for them through competitive bass fishing tournaments. When I am not fishing, which is almost never, I am always stepping up to helps friends and neighbors with home repair projects."
“I have worked at Sunrise since 2014. Prior to joining the team here at Sunrise of Overland Park, I spent 16 years working in healthcare dining services.
“Prior to joining the Sunrise team in 2013, I worked at a skilled nursing facility. At Sunrise, I love spending time with my residents and putting a smile on their faces when they are having a bad day.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy dancing, spending time with my family and going to church.”
"I have been with Sunrise since 2015. Prior to coming here, I spent over 2 years in a skilled nursing setting.
My favorite part of my jobs is that I have the opportunity to get to know residents, and allow all of their spunky personality traits to shine. Coming to work is like seeing family every day, and that's the best part about working here.
In my spare time, I volunteer with local animal rescue organizations, this led to me adopting my own rescue cat named Ladybug."
"I started at Sunrise in June of 2018, but started my journey as a therapy pet in 2010.
My favorite part of my job is cleaning the dining room, and bringing Sunrise to more families by being the best tour guide ever!
The best part of working at Sunrise is loving on my residents. I just celebrated my 14th birthday, on Veterans Day, so I fit right in with my residents.
In my spare time, I enjoy making pillow forts on my mom’s couch and running around my backyard!"
