stephanie crabbe ed richmondStephanie Crabbe

Executive Director

"I began my senior living career in 2000 as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, where I had the opportunity to hear real-life stories of historic event from many seniors. After years of building relationships with residents while planning and implementing recreation programs, it was clear my passion was working with seniors. In 2014, I decided to become a Licensed Nursing Home administrator. I love that in this role, I can be a resource for so many seniors and their families. I joined the Sunrise family in October 2019 because I was drawn to their mission to create a homelike environment for the seniors that they serve."

Director of Sales

"I joined the Sunrise of Richmond family back in December of 2014 as the Director of Sales. Growing up I spent a lot of time with my grandma and her siblings and loved being around them. This special time was my introduction to being around the senior population, and what really helped me develop my passion for seniors. I love getting to know my families and residents as well as educating them on what solutions Sunrise can bring to them."

Resident Care Director

"I joined the Sunrise of Richmond family as the Resident Care Director in December of 2018. I have an RN and BSN and prior to coming to assisted living, I worked in hospice for seven years and in emergency care for ten years before that. What I love about assisted living and Sunrise in particular is that we are a family, combined with our residents and their family. We all work together to enhance our residents’ lives and I truly love working with the senior population. Making a difference in someone’s life is truly meaningful to me and I love that learn something marvelous from one of our residents every day."

Activities and Volunteer Coordinator

"I have been with Sunrise of Richmond since July 2011, when I moved to the Richmond area from Pittsburgh, PA with my husband and two daughters. I took a part-time position as the Activities Assistant, thinking it would be something fun to do while I continued to search for a ‘real job’. I fell in love with serving seniors and quickly decided to make Sunrise my ‘real Job!’ I moved to the full-time position of Life Enrichment Manager in our memory care neighborhood, where I trained with both the Alzheimer’s Association and the Validation Training Institute to enhance my understanding of, and communication with, people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. I have been the Activity and Volunteer Coordinator since December 2015, and continue to facilitate caregiver support groups for the Greater Richmond Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Focusing on living with purpose for our seniors in assisted living and creating pleasant days for our seniors with memory loss are my 2 greatest passions."

"I started my journey with Sunrise in September of 2001 as a dining room server at Sunrise of Poland, OH. In 2003 became a Care Manager and worked my way up to Lead Care Manager. In 2012, I transferred to Sunrise of Richmond where I became a Med Tech. In May of 2019 I became the Reminiscence Coordinator where I get to focus on each resident’s individual care needs and engagement. I have a passion for working with seniors with memory loss and love to focus on creating pleasant days. I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else."

Business Office Coordinator

"I started my career with Sunrise in October 2018 as a Concierge. I really enjoyed getting to greet our families and help our residents on a daily basis. Seeing the same faces every day and knowing I was contributing to the smiles brought me joy. One year later, I transferred to the Business Office Coordinator position. In this role, I still get to interact with our residents and be a part of their daily lives, however I also get to support our team members, who are so incredible and are always going above and beyond in delivering high quality care with a special personal touch. I love working for an organization that allows for growth while maintaining a culture most long for in their careers. In my spare time I enjoy watching sports, reading and travel."

Dining Service Coordinator

"I began with Sunrise in 1999. I returned home to Sunrise after leaving for 11 years to pursue an opportunity to work under a great Chef at one of the top caterers in Richmond. That experience really helped shape my ability to provide a top rated quality dining program at Sunrise. What I love most about Sunrise is the sense of family we have here with residents and staff alike, as well as the overall feeling that I am contributing to our community while pursuing my passion of cooking. What continues to surprise me and keep me firmly rooted at Sunrise is the sense of giving back to the community and the fulfillment I get in my heart from exercising my passion to serve. I love listening to stories from our residents and consider many of them more like friends and I can see they feel the same way about me. Plus my cooking is good!"

michael wright mcMichael Wright

Maintenance Coordinator

"I started with Sunrise in 2014, just after marrying my best friend. Finding my passion of working with seniors has helped to strengthen my personal relationship outside of work. At work, I have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of great residents as well as getting to work great with staff members. What gives me the most gratitude here at Sunrise of Richmond is, being able to assist seniors when needed and putting smiles on our their faces. Sunrise Rocks!"

Wellness Nurse

“Being a nurse at Sunrise in an assisted living setting and working with the elderly is different than working in a specialty setting. The residents and their families view us as an extension to their families. Bonds are formed that heighten the care. The setting is of a home-like environment and I am honored to assist them as they welcome me into their homes.

Sunrise allows me to practice my chosen career in such a warm and inviting setting. As the saying goes: Great days begin with Sunrise!”

Lead Medication Technician

“I started with Sunrise more than 10 years ago. I truly enjoy the everyday interaction with residents and families. I treat the residents like I would want to be treated if I was in their position. They’re real people who have real needs. Each day, I gain a sense of fulfillment and purpose from providing our residents with care.

Sunrise has strong Principles of Service, which I greatly admire.”

Medication Technician

“I love my job, so it is easy to get close and care for our residents as I would my own family members. I don’t see myself as just a medication technician, but part of each resident’s family. When residents’ family members are not around, I’m there to comfort, to care and to love on them. I get a sense of fulfillment when the residents are happy.

Twelve years ago, fresh from completing my CNA class, I came to Sunrise to apply for a position. After completing my application, I was driving out of the parking lot and I could see the nurse who interviewed me chasing my car to ask when I could start. I have been with Sunrise of Richmond since that day. “
