Our dining team at Sunrise of Rochester, MI, features fresh herbs in their meals including basil, dill, and thyme. We also try and incorporate as many fresh vegetables and fruits in as many dishes as possible as they’re rich in flavor and nutritional value.
Our residents’ opinions matter to us so each month our resident council meets to discuss our menus. Sometimes our residents will even share their family recipes with us to recreate. These dishes are oftentimes very special because they’ve been passed down for generations and conjure up happy family memories.
We make health a priority in our kitchen so we make small changes that add up, such as only using low sodium stock for our soups. We also avoid deep frying and use olive oil or sesame oil for some of our sautéing. Therefore, not only does our food taste good, but it is good for you!
This is all made possible with the skills and expertise of our dining services coordinator, Cindy Samuel. She has been in her position for 16 years at Rochester, MI, and has over 25 years of combined experience in restaurants and senior living communities. The residents here love when she and the dining team make classic comfort food such as a pot roast dinner or chicken and dumplings.
