Craig Rukande

Executive Director

For the past 13 years, Craig has enjoyed serving seniors. He began his senior care career as a nursing assistant on a dementia unit. Craig is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and a Certified Validation Worker through the International Validation Institute training under Rita Altman, who is the SVP of Memory Care and Programming at Sunrise and one of eight Validation Masters in the world. Jenny Kenderes

Director of Sales

“As the Director of Sales, I have the opportunity to help families at a time of transition, while showcasing our beautiful community and our commitment to our residents.  My passion for Sunrise started many years ago when my own grandfather was a Sunrise resident. I feel honored to join families on their journey as they seek out the right community for their loved ones.

At Sunrise, I am able to see the relationship blossom between our residents and our tenured team members.”

Beth Polly

Resident Care Director

“At Sunrise, we are fortunate for the opportunity to come to work every day and leave better than we arrived.  This happens because of our experiences with our wonderful residents, family members and team members we are so privileged to serve.  There are opportunities every day to bring joy to others.

As a nurse at Sunrise, we not only care for the physical needs of residents, we also care for the emotional, social and spiritual needs.  We can give a resident all the right medications and treatments, but if we don’t help them find joy and meaning in their day then they are not well.  We focus on the whole person. We do this by listening to their life stories and finding out what is important to them.  One of my favorite times of the day is when a long-time resident of Sunrise sits at the piano and plays for all who are coming to the dining room for dinner.

I am honored to be a part of the Sunrise family.  Nursing is not just what I do.  Nursing is who I am and what gives me joy and purpose.  Our nursing team is here to serve.  We are here to help, to listen, to laugh, to provide a shoulder to cry on. Above all, we are here to care.”

Nancy Dewaney

Resident Care Coordinator

“I have an amazing job here at Sunrise of Rocky River. My role as the Resident Care Coordinator has the best of both worlds: I get to meet residents and families and help them with the transition to a new place and I get to ensure we have a great team of care managers to provide the best possible care for our residents.

I think of residents, families and team members as my family. Sunrise has been my home for nearly 15 years and I love my job and believe in our company.”

“I joined the Sunrise of Rocky River team as a concierge and dining room care manager in August 2011. I love working with our residents, making sure that all of their needs are cared for and, most importantly, have a great time with them! They are all unique and it’s my mission to ensure that the whole house knows how special each resident is.”
