"I gained my passion for senior living when I was younger and watched my Grandma go through the aging process with a dementia diagnosis. My heart hurt and was full of compassion as I watched her go through various stages of her life as she progressed in her disease. From this experience, I knew that I wanted to be an advocate for seniors in my career. I went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration from Utah Valley University while working for a medical company that focused on telehealth consults. Shortly after graduating, I had the opportunity to join Sunrise Senior Living as an Associate Executive Director. I assumed this role for a year before I was granted the opportunity to be an Executive Director here at Sunrise of San Rafael.
The best part about my job is seeing the joy that is brought to residents and staff as we strive to create meaningful experiences in the lives of the residents. At Sunrise we call these experiences, “Moments of Magic.” These Moments of Magic are heartwarming, comical at times, somber at other times, and are what bring me the greatest joy in my job with Sunrise. In my spare time, my spouse and I enjoy active adventures together that include rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing, and surfing."
"I have worked in eldercare for a number of years. I always strive to connect with each resident on an individual level. I manage community activities, events, and services designed to enrich residents’ lives and promote wellness of mind, body and spirit. My goal is to find the right mix of activities for an individual to connect with and help maintain a sense of purpose in their lives here at Sunrise of San Rafael. I have a true passion for this work and hope to share this passion with all of our residents.
My favorite part about Sunrise is how well everyone works as a team. In my spare time, I enjoy mountain biking and spending time with my family."
"I joined Sunrise in 2018 as a Reminiscence Coordinator. I received my RCFE certification in 2015. My background prior was in Information Technology working as a business applications engineer and later as a project manager. I discovered how wonderful it is to serve seniors by way of volunteering.
My favorite part of my job is to help my team be resilient and empowered. I also love making my residents smile and assisting them live each day with a purpose. I think that the best part of working for Sunrise is the leadership support and the various technologies, which help me be efficient at my job and develop my skillset as a leader. As a team, we strive to provide excellent care to our memory care residents and take care of our team. In my spare time, I enjoy running duathlons and pursuing my graduate studies. I hope to be able to run my first full marathon and participate in a triathlon someday."
"I have been fortunate to have a varied and full nursing career spanning many years of practice in acute, outpatient, and now long term care. Throughout my career, I have received a BSN, master's, and doctoral degrees in nursing. My passion for working in memory care comes from personal experience of caring for my mother, who lived with me and finally in a long term facility over a 17 year period. I was able to experience and understand changes that residents and families make on a first hand basis. This experience has given me much compassion, knowledge, and understanding of memory care residents and family needs and concerns.
In my free time, I love spending time with my little dog Chloe."
"I am a Santa Rose Junior College Culinary Arts graduate as of 2009. Since then, I have been customizing meals for seniors. I have a passion for health and fitness. I love to share that passion with my team and residents by emphasizing healthy eating.
What I like most about Sunrise of San Rafael is working in a family atmosphere. I also like that all of the team members understand that we work for the residents and strive to provide the best care possible. In my spare time, I like spending time with my family and exercising outdoors."
