"Prior to joining Sunrise of Victoria 5 years ago, I worked in sales and event planning in the hospitality industry. I hold a diploma in operations management and I studied sales and marketing.
My favourite part of my job is working with families and seniors, and helping make those difficult decisions a little bit easier. I want to ensure that seniors and their loved ones receive the quality care and the dignity they deserve.
At Sunrise, I work alongside an incredible and inspirational team. It is a very warm family atmosphere. In my spare time, I enjoy the spectacular nature we have here and around Victoria."
Alyshah Nurani is our Resident Care Director. She was born in Edmonton, Alberta and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alberta. She spent her four years as a university student volunteering and working with the elderly population within the assisted living, long term care, and hospital settings. She has over 8 years of experience as a Registered Nurse with a focus in cardiac critical care, internal medicine, and pharmaceutical research.
"I joined the Sunrise Team in 2007 immediately after completing the Home Support and Care Aide Program at Camosun College. I have since taken on various roles working at Sunrise and on the Island Health community. For many years, I have been privileged to have met so many wonderful people, residents, families, and coworkers alike. Sunrise has been my second home and is family to me.
Since taking on the role of Activities and Volunteer Coordinator, I have been given an incredible opportunity to create meaningful and purposeful moments for our residents. It has been one spectacular experience.
In my free time, I love to watch movies or tv shows, read books, go for hikes, and try new restaurants in Victoria with my husband Aaron. I also love to travel and have been to 12 countries. My favourite cities are Paris and Rio de Janeiro because of their vibrance and opulence. In the not so distant future, I would love to be able to travel to Japan and Kenya."
“I value the care and attention I’m able to provide to our residents each day. It’s my mission to ensure they all receive the best possible care. During my 12 years with Sunrise, I have had the opportunities to learn and grow. Sunrise embraces diversity and celebrates a multicultural heritage.
"I have had the pleasure of working at Sunrise for over 14 years, and during this time, I have enjoyed working in several different roles.
The residents and my fellow team members make coming to work each day fulfilling.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my two little boys and my dog."
