Meet some of the members of our experienced team here at Sunrise of Wilmington, Delaware.

tammie hackett Tamme Hackett

Executive Director

“I have been with Sunrise of Wilmington since 2013 and have worked in the senior living industry for more than 10 years.  I have a deep passion for creating meaningful living experiences for my residents.

I consider it a distinct privilege and joy to serve the residents and families at Sunrise of Wilmington every day. Our community is a part of who I am and an integral part of my life.

In the rare times that I am away from the community, I enjoy my hanging out and relaxing with my children and laughing with my friends.  I am a political junkie as well!”

Sheri Parsons

Reminiscence Coordinator

“I have worked at Sunrise since 2008 but have had the pleasure of working with seniors as a Certified Nursing Assistant since 1989. In 2010, I was awarded Caregiver of the Year from the State of Delaware.

My passion is working with residents who are suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. One of the best aspects of my job is working directly with the seniors; they have taught me so much about life and about myself. I also have the privilege of being a facilitator for the Alzheimer’s Association and we hold a support group the third Tuesday of every month. This allows me to connect with family members who are coping with these difficult times.

In my spare time, I am a comfort creature kind of a gal who likes to pamper herself with shopping and massages.”

Brian Amery

Dining Service Coordinator

“In addition to serving as the Dining Services Coordinator, I am also a Cluster Leader and help to support seven area Sunrise communities in the surrounding Pennsylvania region.

I am a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and worked locally at the Hotel DuPont for 15 years. I was also an Executive Chef for Fieldstone Golf Club and the Sodexo, Aramark and Compass Group corporations. As the Executive Chef for Gate Gourmet of Dulles Virginia Airport, my team produced 15,000 to 20,000 meals a day for 19 different International Airlines.

I take great pride in helping to produce delicious ‘home cooked’ meals for our residents here at Sunrise of Wilmington. Another great aspect of working for Sunrise is the work-life balance that enables me to spend with my wife, Lori, and almost 4-year-old daughter, Chloe.

In my spare time, I enjoy tropical vacations with my family, playing golf and listening to Jimmy Buffett. I also enjoy cooking for my friends and family at home.”

Mitzi Burnett, B.S., ADC, CDP Wilmington-Mitzi-Burnett-Activities-Volunteers-Coordinator

Activities & Volunteer Coordinator

“I have been in the senior living industry for the past 10 years, and prior to joining the Sunrise of Wilmington team, I have worked in a variety of roles in memory care, assisted living, and independent living. Through my experiences, I have become a Certified Dementia Practitioner and Certified Activity Director.

My favorite part of my job is planning and implementing meaningful activities that put smiles on my residents’ faces, and knowing that I’ve made their day more rewarding.  At Sunrise of Wilmington, I get to work with team members who are all committed to the Sunrise mission—to champion quality of life for all seniors.

In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family and friends, read, travel, and do arts and crafts.”
