“I recently joined the Sunrise family again after working for Sunrise 19 years ago. I have served in various roles at different communities.
The best part about working at Sunrise is seeing our residents thrive in the right environment. I consider it the greatest honor to be here to support our residents and families as they navigate these uncharted waters with their loved ones. I have always felt this is the greatest honor as well as the joining of families from their family to the Sunrise family.
In my spare time, I love to spend time with my husband, Tristan and two daughters, Emma, Isabella and dog, Gabby. I also enjoy reading, travelling anywhere warm and being on the water.”
“I have been at Sunrise on Connecticut Avenue since 2010. I began as a care manager in assisted living and was soon after promoted to lead care manager before transitioning to the role of assisted living coordinator.
Sunrise on Conn Ave is my home away from home. I love spending time with residents and helping bring joy to their days.
I am married with three children and enjoy spending time with family and shopping outside of work.”
"I began my Sunrise career in 2006 and am proud to have served Sunrise and our residents for over a decade!
I feel a sense of accomplishment when my team and I successfully manage and assist a resident with behavioral expressions of need. At Sunrise, we believe in treating residents with dignity.
“Bruk” joins Sunrise on Connecticut Avenue as the Resident Care Director. She began her Sunrise career 10 years ago at Sunrise of Bedford Court and was quickly promoted through several positions to include Care Manager, Medication Care Manger and Lead Care Manger. As such, Bruk knows the definition of “hands-on” care! After working closely with Sunrise residents Bruk knew she wanted to become a nurse and quickly set course to do just that. Bruk earned a nursing degree and began her career at Holy Cross Hospital where she worked as a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit. Bruk eventually returned to Sunrise as a Wellness Nurse at Sunrise of Chevy Chase.
During her absence, Bruk’s heart remained true to Sunrise. “It’s a beautiful thing when your career and passions come together”, states Bruk, “and I am thrilled to be back with my Sunrise family.” Bruk’s care philosophy echoes Dr. Leo Buscaglia’s famous quote, “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” In her spare time Bruk enjoys spending time with her children and family, volunteering at church and cooking!
Although Leon Beharry is the newest member of Team Connecticut Avenue, he is no stranger to Sunrise! Leon joins us as the Maintenance Coordinator after having served at several Sunrise communities over the past 13 years.
"The best part of my job is being able to fix problems that make living here more enjoyable for our residents. Working at Sunrise allows me to be a part of a team that genuinely cares about making a difference in the lives of our residents and their families."
In his spare time, Leon enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter. He enjoys watching and playing sports. Basketball, tennis and fishing are among his favorites.
