Fitness Fun at The Fairfax

The Fairfax Aquatic & Fitness Program offers a variety of fitness and wellness classes for residents to maintain their quality of life through good health and well-being. We offer classes in Yoga, Tai Chi, Zumba, Strength & Balance Training, as well as Water Aerobics. Residents can join monthly lectures on senior wellness topics presented by the Physical Therapy Department. New residents have the advantage of a free month’s trial on all the fitness classes and then decide which best suits them. Read more to learn about the expertise of our Aquatic & Fitness Team.

David Blum

David Blum, owner of Exercise Rx, L. C., is a certified personal trainer through the highly recognized NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association)

David has been working with older adults at the Fairfax since 2000 both with group exercise and personal training. Focusing on correct mechanics, posture, technique, and proper exercise prescription he has helped residence drastically improve safety, strength, posture/alignment, balance, and flexibility.

Loretta DiGennaro

Loretta DiGennaro

Loretta is certified as a E- RYT200 yoga teacher, a sound healer, and a trainer for trauma-sensitive yoga.

She also is certified in and teaches weight bearing exercises and enjoys teaching sculpting and strength training classes for adults, specializing in meeting the needs of individuals within a class setting. She is a certified personal trainer, holds a certification in SilverSneakers and Exercise for Frail Elders, and specific training for individuals with osteoporosis.

Paulina Piechota

Paulina Piechota

Paulina is certified in and teaches Zumba Gold, Zumba Toning, and Spinning, Total Body Conditioning, Zumba with high and low instensity, and Chair Zumba. Currently, she is in the process of receiving her American Council on Exercise (ACE) Personal Training Certification.

Sue Ludlum

Suzanne Ludlum

Suzanne Ludlum, RYT500, has been a yoga practitioner for more than 15 years, and has been teaching yoga since 2006. She believes that “yoga is for every body”, no matter what condition the individual is in when he/she approaches a practice. Suzanne has a therapeutic approach to her teaching and helps students realize their innate human potential both on and off the mat. Suzanne is completing her Masters of Science in Yoga Therapy at Maryland University of Integrative Health.

Tori Kantner

Tori Kantner

Tori is certified by the Aquatic Exercise Association, the Arthritis Foundation, and the American Sports and Fitness Association as a Senior Fitness Instructor and Personal Aquatic Fitness Trainer. She has also served as a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Water Fitness Instructor, Aquatic Assistant and Land Program Coordinator with the Fairfax County Park Authority.
