Dear Georgia Families, Neighbors, and Healthcare Partners:

In recent days, you may have seen news coverage on the senior living industry in Georgia. Providers of all sizes are working to balance residents’ need for independence and choice – which helps preserve quality of life – with regulations and standards that are equally important to their individual wellbeing.

Specific to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the coverage alleges occasions when providers, including Sunrise, may have fallen short in care and service to their residents. I imagine articles like this are as concerning to you as they are to me, and I want to talk with you about our commitment to serving our residents.

The care that Sunrise provides to seniors is complex, and delivered by some of the most caring, dedicated and talented professionals in the industry. And, the residents who we care for each and every day become our own families. This is a responsibility we take very seriously and, if we suspect that something has gone wrong, our goal is to do the right thing. Period. We investigate thoroughly, involve authorities as appropriate, and act as swiftly and decisively as possible. We make every effort to hire quality, compassionate people to care for our residents, and conduct background checks and screen applicants prior to employment. We recognize that even one incident is one too many, and we take these matters very seriously.

We collaborate closely with industry associations including the Georgia Senior Living Association and the Georgia Health Care Association and we collect ongoing feedback from our families and partners. We are always striving to improve our operations and create the best possible home in all of our communities. We ask that you continue to share your experiences. Your wellbeing and satisfaction are very important to us.
