A Day in the Life at Battery Park by Sunrise
Barbara's Daily Adventures
Barbara shares what a typical day is like for her in our community.
Today’s schedule is full of interesting activities, so I will be quite busy. I take a yoga class at 10:30—what a great way to start the week! It’s fun and builds strength, balance, and stamina. I was strong when I moved here in 2021, but I’ve gained more strength through yoga and other exercise classes.
After I make a light lunch in my apartment, I attend a lecture given by an art historian on the movie Fahrenheit 451. The lecture was fascinating! Shortly after that, I attend a lecture on politics streamed from the New York Historical Society. It’s fascinating, provocative, and makes your mind spin.
On the way back to my apartment, I stop at the “box office” to sign up for an upcoming trip to the Joyce Theatre to see the Paul Taylor Dance Company. Then, I go out with my Monday group of dinner friends for a lovely meal.

Jane's Exceptional Day
Jane describes a typical day in her life at Battery Park by Sunrise.
My day starts early, at breakfast, with a fabulous group of early birds. The coffee is superb and the array of fruits is enticing. After a thorough reading of the newspaper, I’m off to yoga—a class many of us don’t want to miss!
After yoga, I try my hand at creating a pottery masterpiece. Then, I hop on the community shuttle to grab some groceries at the store. The transportation here is wonderful! I can go to medical appointments as well as MoMA, the Whitney, the newly renovated Frick, and other cultural attractions.
When I get back, I enjoy relaxing on the promenade, laughing as the toddlers on the grass offer endless entertainment. Strolling the paths and watching activity on the Hudson never gets old.
In the evening, I have dinner with friends before ending the day with a film selected by our activities team.
