Nothing says summer quite like an ice-cold glass of lemonade. It makes the perfect refreshing beverage on a warm day spent in the sunshine. But drinking it so often this season could result in it becoming a bit boring. That's why we've developed a list of recipes that make for a new and exciting take on lemonade!

1. Watermelon and Shiso Lemonade
This recipe from Food & Wine magazine makes delicious and refreshing lemonade. It uses Shiso, an Asian plant of the mint family.

First, begin by making your Shiso syrup. Dissolve the sugar in the hot water. Set aside. Then, bring water to a boil in a large pot for your Shiso leaves. As you wait, fill a medium bowl with water and ice cubes for an ice bath.
Once your water reaches boiling point, grab the stems of the Shiso and immerse leaves in water for 15 seconds. Remove and place in ice bath, leaving for about 1 minute. Remove leaves from ice bath and pat dry.
Place the blanched leaves and sugar water in a blender and mix for about 1 minute. Strain and place in refrigerator until cooled completely.
For your lemonade, mix the watermelon juice, lemon juice and Shiso syrup. Garnish with one Shiso leaf and enjoy!
2. Sparkling Peach Lemonade
This simple recipe from food blog The Chic Site makes a satisfying peach drink on a warm summer's day.
First, grab a large pitcher and place peach and lemons slices at the bottom. Mash the fruit with a wooden spoon to infuse the flavors easily. Then, pour in raspberry lemonade, sparkling water and lemon juice. Add ice, stir well and serve. Enjoy!
3. Spicy Lemonade
Who knew you could literally spice up your lemonade? This recipe makes a truly unique summer beverage.
First, follow the directions for your canned lemonade, placing the contents in a large pitcher. Then, add your ginger beer, stirring well. As you mix the contents, slowly add your cayenne pepper. Once the spice has dissolved, add your ice. Let refrigerate for about an hour, serve and enjoy!
4. Blueberry Lavender Lemonade
For a floral palate cleanser, try this lemonade recipe from Serious Eats.
First, make your lavender syrup. Using a medium saucepan, bring sugar and 1 cup of water to a boil. Then, reduce heat and let simmer until sugar is completely dissolved. Add lavender, cover and let steep – this should take about 10 minutes. Strain mixture into a bowl, place in refrigerator and let chill.
Next, place your lavender syrup and blueberries in a blender. Puree mixture until it reaches a smooth consistency. Strain contents – if preferred – into a large pitcher. Add lemon juice, 3 1/2 cups of cold water and stir well. Serve lemonade over ice and garnish with blueberries. Enjoy!
5. Coconut Lemonade
If you're looking for a beverage that'll take you to the beach, try this recipe from Better Homes and Gardens magazine.
Using a large pitcher, mix water, lemon juice, sugar and cream of coconut, stirring well. Cover and place in refrigerator for at least four hours.
Before serving, add blueberries, raspberries, star fruit and ice. Enjoy a glass of this delicious drink for only 150 calories!
