What is Skilled Nursing?

Senior living communities that offer skilled nursing care are often known as nursing homes or skilled nursing facilities. Skilled nursing homes provide typical senior living services, such as help with daily chores and hygiene, with the addition of a high level of medical care that is typically found in a hospital setting. Skilled nursing care is available 24 hours a day, and licensed physicians supervise each resident’s care. . If necessary, skilled nursing homes can perform minor medical procedures and care maintenance.

At Sunrise Senior Living, we offer skilled nursing, post-hospital, post-surgical, and restorative care to our residents seeking quality medical rehabilitation in a comfortable environment. Sunrise skilled nursing is ideal for those who have undergone surgery or hospitalization, received a joint replacement, or sustained an injury and want to recover in a warm and friendly environment. With the attention of a highly trained and certified clinical team, residents receive state-of-the-art care without dealing with the sterile, hospital-like setting during recovery. Skilled nursing care options vary from Sunrise community to community—some have therapy rooms, for example—but all work with local home health care agencies to provide the best possible care for our residents.

Each Sunrise resident receives a care needs assessment upon move-in, which is periodically evaluated so that any changes to those needs are addressed. By following a universal care model, the staff at Sunrise works together to provide our residents with quality, comprehensive skilled nursing care. Our team members also coordinate physician and pharmacy services, including transportation. Additional skilled nursing services and amenities may vary by location.
