Joyce Freer is the dining services coordinator at Brighton Gardens of Friendship Heights, MD. She was a restaurant manager for 20 years before coming to Sunrise, where she now oversees her chef and two cooks who work collaboratively with the dining team to serve up some great meals for our residents.
Our community loves seafood and you’ll often find swordfish, shrimp, crab cakes and more on our menus. Other favorites include roast turkey, prime rib, and pasta with meat sauce, sausage and stuffed shells. For residents craving more casual fare, BLTs, grilled chicken sandwiches, soups, salad and fruit are always on the menu.
Our community has its own garden and in the summer, we showcase home grown fresh herbs in meals, such as basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary and garlic. Throughout the year, holidays are themed dinners. For instance, there is turkey for Thanksgiving, leg of lamb for New Years and prime rib and shrimp cocktail for Mother’s Day.
