Sunrise at Wood Ranch

Meet the Sunrise at Wood Ranch Team

Meet some of the fantastic members of the Sunrise at Wood Ranch, CA, team.

SarahSarah Krim, BS, RCFE

Executive Director

"I have been with Sunrise Senior Living for over 17 years. I am so honored to be a part of this remarkable and talented team of outstanding leaders.

Prior to my current  role  over eight and a half years of experience in the area of human resources, over 2 years of dementia care and staffing experience, I received my Bachelors of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in behavioral and abnormal psychological studies and became a  Certified Validation Practitioner.

It is truly an honor to be serving my residents, team members, and families every day.  I am a big believer in Sunrise’s mission “to champion the quality of life for all seniors,” and constantly strive to make Sunrise the best experience for everyone visiting, living, and working in our community.

Travel is a hobby of mine. I have lived as a student in Europe and a teacher in China for 3 years total. My travels have taken me to 21 different countries. These experiences have given me so many wonderful experiences with adapting to different backgrounds and cultures. Now I enjoy bringing my husband of 7 years along with our 2 year old daughter on these adventures."

Lisa KrohnLisa Krohn, RN, RCFE

Resident Care Director

Lisa LoCascio Krohn has over 10 years of experience in Assisted Living Communities as a Registered Nurse and RCFE Administrator. She was previously with Blue Cross of California for 12 years and also worked in the Trauma Center at UCLA in the beginning of her nursing career.

Lisa’s passion in caring for seniors started with “Noni”, her Italian Grandmother. Together they traveled Italy, visiting with family and distant relatives in Noni’s hometown, Piemonte, in the Italian Alps.  It’s from her Grandmother that Lisa caught the travel bug and she hopes to visit every continent as part of her bucket list. Trips planned for next year include England, Ireland and Scotland.

Lisa has lived in Thousand Oaks since 1987 and has two adult children, Jessica and Ricky, who are the absolute joy of her life. She enjoys Dodger games with Ricky and some good mother/daughter time with Jessica.  In her spare time, Lisa loves to garden and has both a flower and vegetable garden.  She is searching for the perfect heirloom tomato to grow to cook the perfect Italian sauce. Ciao bella!

bina almilli

Bina Almilli, CGVP

Reminiscence Coordinator

Bina has been a member of the Sunrise team for just over eight years. Prior to Sunrise Senior Living, she owned a state licensed daycare for 23 years. Both careers have been rewarding in every way, and working with young children and having her own has taught her the virtue of patience which has come in handy caring for residents with memory loss. Bina’s residents are her favorite part of the job, and she considers them part of her own family.  Their stories, knowledge and values have enriched her life in so many ways.

Bina feels so lucky to work with people who are so passionate about what they do, and her team holds her in the highest regards stating, …”Bina is a nurturer, a leader, really wants us to grow, personable, empathetic, she builds us up so we can take good care of the residents.”

As a Certified Group Validation Practitioner, she holds herself and the team to a highest standard by persistently implementing her caring heart with the best evidence based programs to accommodate our residents on their journey through memory loss. For her perseverance and efforts she was awarded Memory Care Leader in 2017 West Division out of over 150 applicants, and has been a regional job coach for 3 years.

At home, family is important and she enjoys spending time with them. Whether watching a movie or going out to dinner, it’s the time together that she truly cherishes. Bina also enjoys long drives and long walks, listening to music and shopping for old/shabby antiques.

David PostarDavid Postar, MASM

Director of Sales

"Before beginning my career in senior living in early 2015 here at Wood Ranch as a Sales Associate, I worked as a home improvement consultant where I particularly enjoyed assisting older adults with their projects. I decided to go back to school and learn how to serve and advocate for older adults, and earned master’s degree in Aging Services Management from University of Southern California’s School of Gerontology. This prepared me to be a great resource and navigator for families who are new and overwhelmed in the world of senior care.

I am so blessed to be someone who actually looks forward to coming to work every day.  My spirit is constantly nurtured when I see families and residents who were once in physical and emotional distress become transformed by the Sunrise team.  Mostly, I love watching and helping the residents experience joy once again. Knowing that I play a pivotal role in this process by introducing them to Sunrise brings great purpose to my life.

In my spare time, I’m a 4 time Grand Champion fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association, I like to travel to relaxing tropical locations, practice Transcendental Meditation, go to concerts, spend time with loved ones, exercise and make people laugh."

Martha Martha Macker, BS

Director of Sales

A relative newcomer to Sunrise Wood Ranch, Martha holds a degree in Family and Consumer Science, which provided a comprehensive background in family living and parenting education, housing and interior design, food and nutrition and individual and family health leadership. At Sunrise she enjoys watching residents participate in social interactions, musical programs, outings and fitness activities and loves working at Sunrise because of all the smiles that can be found on both the residents and the employees alike.

When not at work, she enjoys competitive tennis, skiing, golf and other sports. Martha likes to travel and loves cooking and entertaining for family and friends.

Janette Garcia team member profile

Janette Garcia

Terrace Club Coordinator

"I have been with Sunrise at Wood Ranch since October 2010.  I started as a care partner in our Terrace Club neighborhood and soon after became a lead care partner. This eventually led me to transition into my current role of Terrace Club coordinator.

From the very start of my time here, Sunrise has been my second family; you build relationships with everyone—from residents to team members. Working at Sunrise made me realize my passion for helping people in general, so much so that I decided to go back to school to become an EMT, and have been certified since 2013.

Outside of Sunrise, I enjoy everything from museums and theme parks to quiet nights at home, watching movies horror and comedy movies with my son. I come from a large family and enjoy spending my weekends catching up with loved ones.”

Angelica Angelica Lara

Assisted Living Coordinator

"Prior to starting my career with Sunrise, I was a Manager at a local restaurant in Long Beach. While working there I often would assist my mom with caregiving for my grandma. The experience of having my daughter and caregiving for my grandma showed me how much I enjoyed caring for other people and making a difference.
Although I am new to Wood Ranch, I have been with Sunrise for 14 years at our Seal Beach community. My time at Sunrise has been invaluable with many memories, I am looking forward to bringing the experience I’ve had in all my positions to Sunrise at Wood Ranch and creating new memories.

I have embraced every opportunity that has come my way with a serving heart.  Nothing compares to building relationships with residents and their families.  I hope to encourage residents to live life to the fullest and looking forward in being part of their journey. Together we can make a difference."

William BrownWilliam Brown, BA

Activities and Volunteer Coordinator

"Prior to becoming the AVC at Wood Ranch, I was a Care Partner in our Terrace Club neighborhood for a little over a year and absolutely loved connecting with the residents and building trusting relationships. The beauty of my position is that I am able to do that with every resident at Wood Ranch. I am truly astounded that my work now involves this incomplete list of singing, dancing, learning, art, exercise, and most of all fun. To say that I feel blessed is an understatement.
At home my amazing wife Lindsey and I enjoy gardening in our backyard, playing LPs on our record player and cooking up vegetarian feasts. We have two black cats named Alistair and Magic whom are the loves of our lives. When I think about how I hoped that my life would turn out, I never imagined it would be this great."

Diane Knight Dianne Benedict-Knight

Business Office Coordinator

"I have worked at Sunrise since 2016 and have absolutely loved every moment of it. Before taking on my current role, you may recognize me as the woman who greets you when you sign in at the front desk, answers your calls, or even used to be your loved one’s designated care manager. My favorite part of working for Sunrise is building close relationships with our families to help provide the excellent care your loved one deserves.
In my free time I love to watch hockey whether it be NHL (Go Vegas Golden Knights) or my husband’s recreational league (Viva Los Vigilantes!), make candles, and sing! I have been singing my whole life, and was very involved in the Vocal Music program at my high school, Santa Susana. Currently, I am the lead singer of an 80’s cover band, 80/80 Vision, with which I sing all sorts of songs by amazing artists from the great decade. Don’t be surprised if you find me joining in with you loved one in the weekly SignFit session!"
