"I have provided direct patient care for over 12 years and have been a nurse since 2011, beginning my healthcare journey at 16 years old when I chose to volunteer at a local skilled nursing facility as the “bingo girl”. My passion for senior care and service was ignited and fueled my desire to pursue nursing as a career.
Throughout my journey as a nurse I have held positions in multiple disciplines ranging from skilled nursing facility charge nurse, mental health outpatient clinic nurse, acute care case manager, home health care nurse, and my current role as Resident Care Director at Sunrise of Burlingame.
In addition to my position within Sunrise, I currently attend Wilkes University, where I am pursuing my Masters in Nursing with a minor in nursing management. In my spare time, I enjoying hiking, snowboarding, and exploring the world with my husband. My daily inspiration is learning from each and every resident I encounter, to ensure I provide top tier service and personalized care to all."
"I am an Assisted Living Coordinator at Sunrise of Burlingame where I implement the care plan for each resident of the community, ensuring their well-being and safety. My goal is to make them feel at home with the help of our Care Managers on the team.
I also am committed to making sure that my Care Managers are recognized for all of their hard work and their dedication to serving the residents with the highest level of care.
There are many things I enjoy about working at Sunrise, such as getting to know the residents, their families and my co-workers. I feel like I am part of a big family, whereby I provide the care and support the residents need in the community. This gives me a sense of fulfillment and purpose, both professionally and personally."
"In my years of professional experience working in the Assisted Living industry, I started out working as a server in the culinary department. After I transitioned to working in Activities and Life Enrichment, which was immensely rewarding to fill each day with beautiful moments, I then promoted to Memory Care Director.
I attended Ohlone College in Fremont, CA for Business Administration. I am a certified Dementia Practitioner and I have obtained my RCFE Administrator license.
What I enjoy most about my role is having the pleasure of helping others and making a difference in their daily lives. I was born and raised in San Francisco, am married, and have a blended family of three girls and one grand-daughter. My hobbies are going on scenic drives or excursions. I love to shop, fine dine, and listen to music."
"I acquired a Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Psychology as well as a Master’s of Science in Applied Gerontology and have been researching and applying my skills in a variety of settings that provide services to older adults with cognitive decline since 2007.
My passion is to provide superior care to older adults by constantly challenging status quo, looking for opportunities to continuously improve our services, and offering the appropriate training and support to caregivers and staff.
My commitment is to foster resident-centered care, promote quality of life, and enhance aging in place. In my personal time, I am passionate about attending sporting events, dinning out, weekend trips, and reading."
"I graduated from California State University of East Bay in June, 2017 with a Degree in Public Health and a minor in Hospitality and Tourism. My experience and passion to work with seniors stems from caring for family members, serving at my local community church, and taking on several leadership roles in the church ministry. I joined the Sunrise family in 2017 and began as a concierge and activities assistant.
My favorite part of my job is getting to know each of my residents. I am privileged to listen to their stories, celebrate their lives, and acknowledge the accomplishments they've achieved. Providing purposeful activities and programs that keep our residents challenged, excited, and inspired brings me joy.
What makes Sunrise of Burlingame a unique place is the dedicated and supportive team. I am extremely grateful and fortunate to be working alongside an amazing team that is ambitious and kind.
Outside of work, I start small projects of planning and designing special events. I am also a foodie who enjoys all the newest food and beverage hypes and trends. I enjoy traveling, cooking, and spending time with friends and family."
"Walking into the community every morning, greeting our residents, putting a smile on their faces, and making a difference in their lives has been the highlight of my job since starting at Sunrise in 2011. It puts a warm and fuzzy feeling in my heart.
At Sunrise our team approach is phenomenal. We all work together to bring joy to our residents and team members. Our line of work can be challenging and through the years I have learned to embrace the following “Sunrise-isms” which has helped me become the person that I am today: Where we are today is one point in our journey through life; Think about the work that you do and take time to enjoy the moments that you share with your residents and teams; You make such a difference in people’s lives; and most of all, Take time to enjoy what you do!
I am originally from Fiji and it is in our culture to respect and serve other people with a smile from our hearts. Whenever I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, 3 children, families, and friends. I have a Degree in Accounting and I was a Program Accountant for 20 years in the European Union Sector before I joined Sunrise."
"I have worked in senior living since 2004. I graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Napa, California. I also have previous experience with Marriott Hotels and Sodexho Food Service.
I enjoy being able to provide residents with a restaurant-style experience. My favorite part of working for Sunrise is providing customer service to our residents in our dining areas.
When I'm not at Sunrise, I enjoy surfing and spending time with my three children. I also am an active volunteer for the Veteran’s Administration helping veterans through transitional situations."
