Meet the Sunrise of Huntington Beach Team

We are pleased to introduce you to some of the members of our dedicated team here at Sunrise of Huntington Beach.

Eric Mensah, CDP

Executive Director

"I have been with Sunrise since 2016 and recently transferred from Sunrise of Claremont. I really enjoy working for Sunrise and serving seniors. I began my career in health care as a certified nursing assistant more than 15 years ago. I've been an Executive Director for the past ten years, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in community health from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. I'm a Certified Dementia Practitioner, a job coach and enjoy training new team members.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time my wife Linda, daughter Madison and son EJ."

Director of Sales

"I graduated from Long Beach State with a degree in business finance in 1996 and have been in sales and marketing ever since. I was in the staffing and hospitality industry the majority of my career and I am proud to now be at Sunrise. About 6 years ago, my father moved into another Sunrise location, which allowed me to realize a passion I had for some time, our senior population. I was grateful for the experience on the family side and I am excited to now be able to help other families with the decision of the best care for their loved ones. My favorite part of Sunrise is our family culture.

In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my two grown sons, my grandson or with my two rescue dogs. I enjoy staying active, exploring new places, traveling, good food, and good wine."

Director of Sales

"I have been in the customer service and sales industry for over 20 years in various roles. Prior to joining the Sunrise family, I was a Sales Director for another Senior Living company. It was there where I first learned how rewarding this industry is and the value we bring to seniors and their loved ones every day. At Sunrise, I get to help families or friends find solutions and peace of mind for their loved ones during what can be a challenging time. I am excited to be able to do this at Sunrise of Huntington Beach and to have the opportunity to carry out the Sunrise Mission: 'To Champion Quality of Life for All Seniors.'

I also really enjoy working with a team that shares the same passion and developing lifelong friendships. It is truly gratifying to earn the trust of a family and ensure them that not only will we provide the support they need, but can be a new loving home for their loved ones. I absolutely love learning a person’s unique life story and hearing about the experiences they have had.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, playing cards with my Grandma, and playing/singing songs on my guitar. I also like to watch movies and spend time with friends."

Heidi Peter

Activities and Volunteer Coordinator

"I joined Sunrise of Huntington Beach in February 2018.  Previously, I worked for our sister community, Sunrise Villa Bradford as the Activities Assistant.  I’ve worked in several jobs since the age of 18 coordinating activities for seniors, here in Southern California and in South Carolina.  I received my bachelor’s degree in health science from Cal State Fullerton.

From a young age, I’ve had a strong connection with seniors.  I love spending time with them.  It’s like having a never-ending supply of grandparents! It’s a blessing to go to work each day knowing I am doing something I love. When I am not working, you can find me exploring and photographing different cuisines with my husband and friends or singing with the Meritage Vocal Arts Ensemble."

"I joined the Sunrise of Huntington Beach team in 2012 and have held many roles during my time here. My favorite part of my current role is using my creativity and compassion to find resolutions to any problems residents may encounter. I enjoys being surrounded by like-minded people who share a resident-centered approach to caregiving. When I'm not working, I enjoy going to basketball games with my daughter and enjoying music at concerts or other events."

"I say that when the residents and their families are having a great time together, my team and I feel like part of the family. As the Terrace Club Coordinator, I feel that Sunrise gives me the opportunity to feel that I'm making a meaningful impact on residents’ lives. Outside of work, I like to garden, cook, watch movies and spend time outside."

John Carramanzana

"I served in the US Navy as a nuclear chemist and engine room supervisor on the attack submarine USS Birmingham, and later repaired other ships while stationed at Pearl Harbor. I’ve been doing maintenance in the healthcare field for 18 years, and have felt very welcome here at Sunrise. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family."

louie romoLouie Romo

Dining Services Coordinator

"I have worked in assisted living since 2010. My prior experience comes from working in the hospitality industry for over 25 years as having worked in a hotel, casino, collage, fine dining, golf course, and assisted living.

The best part of my job is seeing the smiles on the residents when they are enjoying the meal made in our kitchen. Also, being able to joke around with the residents, making them laugh, or having them tell me stories gives me great joy. The best part of working at Sunrise is the quality of life, being able to be at home at a reasonable time.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and being able to race motorcross on the weekends."
