Sunrise of La Palma

Meet the Sunrise of La Palma Team

We’re excited to introduce you to some of the fantastic team members who make Sunrise of La Palma, CA, a wonderful place to call home.

jennifer munozJennifer Munoz

Executive Director

Since 2004, Jennifer has enjoyed getting to know the residents and families of Sunrise and hearing their stories. She loves brightening their days with a smile and a hug and appreciates working alongside a team that truly cares about their residents and families.

“Sunrise is my extended family! My husband and three children have always enjoyed participating in family events at the community whenever possible. The residents and the team members really do become such a big part of my life."

In her spare time, Jennifer’s days are filled with athletics, friends, and spending time at home with her family and her beloved dog Cash.

sarah carlsonSarah Carlson

Resident Care Coordinator

Sarah started working for Sunrise in August 2008 as a Designated Care Manager and was quickly promoted to a Lead Care Manager and then a Supervisor! She currently manages the entire Assisted Living and Reminiscence care teams as the Resident Care Coordinator. Sarah's love for seniors was prompted by an Alzheimer's and Dementia class taken at Long Beach City College. Shortly after beginning her career with Sunrise, she learned that her grandmother had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. This firsthand experience proved to be invaluable for her role within the community.

“I enjoy laughing with, learning about, caring for, and supporting our seniors and their families. The team members I've worked with have become a second family to me. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and watching baseball games. Go Dodgers!”

amy sotoAmy Soto

Activities & Volunteer Coordinator

Amy started her journey with Sunrise leading activities as a community volunteer while studying Gerontology at Cal State Fullerton. She officially joined the Sunrise team in 2010 and has worked as a Lead Care Manager, Concierge, and Activities Assistant/Driver before joining the team at Sunrise of La Palma as the Activities and Volunteer Coordinator.

“I love being able to create programming that brings joy and purpose to my residents. I enjoy building new programs to help keep them active in mind, body, and spirit; beyond that my favorite moments are my weekly one-on-ones to help ensure that everyone has a voice in our community’s activities. I adore being able to hear their unique perspectives and stories, and I love building those relationships!”

On her days off,  Amy enjoys going on adventures with her husband and three kids. She also loves painting, woodworking, sewing, and crafting.

jeremai sotoJeremai Soto

Dining Services Coordinator

Jeremai began his career with Sunrise in November of 2013 as a cook and was then promoted to the Dining Services Coordinator. He found his passion for food after participating in the Culinary Arts Program at Los Angeles Trade Tech College, where he received his AA degree in Culinary Arts. Afterward he was able to spend some time in Italy, Spain and Germany to learn about other cultures and the impact food has on the everyday life of us all.

“Making the choice to work at Sunrise was the one of the best decisions I've ever made. Working in a senior community always excites me because I get to learn what food means to our residents and that what I do in the community can bring them happiness every day.”

In his spare time, Jeremai likes to spend time with his family and friends, focus on his health and physical fitness, work out, and eat donuts.

alejandro perezAlejandro Perez

Maintenance Coordinator

Alejandro began his career in senior living in 2004 as a dishwasher in a senior living community and two short years later he was promoted to the Supervisor of Maintenance. He joined Sunrise in June of 2019 as the Maintenance Coordinator at Sunrise of La Palma. Alejandro enjoys being out and about in the community with the residents and solving the different maintenance issues that pop up in a large community setting with multiple suites.

“I enjoy providing service for the residents. It's very fulfilling and it doesn't feel like a job! I like to make a difference in their lives by helping out or just even having a conversation with them.”

In his spare time, Alejandro likes to spend time with his family, read, and travel. He is married with two children and would one day like to visit New Zealand and the Philippines!
