Meet some of the members of our team here at Sunrise of Louisville.
“I have worked in senior living for nearly 23 years and have served our senior population in many capacities. I have been a geriatric nurse for 20 years.
My favorite part of my job is seeing our residents each day and enjoying their stories, listening to the advice they offer, and helping them to live a purposeful and joyful life in our community. I am personally committed to our age in place philosophy and work with my team to remove barriers so our residents may remain in their home as long as they choose.
Sunrise is a fantastic company and a true leader in senior living. Every day we are each encouraged to follow the mission of this pioneer company to ‘champion quality of life for all seniors.’
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with two girls, Sara and Megan. I love to travel, cook, and spend time with friends and family.”
“I’ve been a nurse in the geriatric field since 1994 as an LPN, I later earned my Associates Degree in Nursing in 2011. There’s never been a doubt that my calling is serving our elders.
My favorite part of my job at Sunrise is having the opportunity each day to improve the quality of life for our residents, and subsequently, their families. I also love how I’ve gotten to bond with many residents over the years. Many of them hold a special place in my heart. It is my pleasure and privilege to serve our residents every day and make Sunrise their forever home.
Outside of Sunrise, I enjoy spending time with my daughters and my grandchildren.”
“I have worked with our senior population for the past ten years in different capacities and joined the Sunrise team in December 2019. I received my BS in Marketing from the University of Louisville and always knew that I would use it work with seniors.
The best part of working at Sunrise is the atmosphere; I have felt like I was at home from the moment I walked through the door. My favorite part of my job is being a resource for families while they find the best community for their loved one. Helping residents make Sunrise their home and feel welcomed is such a joy and I am honored to be part of their new extended family!
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, family, and two dogs.”
"I started my journey with Sunrise in 2014, and I am very excited about being a part of Team Louisville! I earned my BS in Sociology from the University of Louisville with much of my coursework geared toward issues relevant to aging.
One of the things I most enjoy about my job is being the team captain for our annual Alzheimer’s Walk. It is amazing to watch everyone pull together in support of research to end this devastating disease. We are filled with such emotion and pride to be walking with the Sunrise of Louisville team on behalf of our families – what an honor this truly is!
In my spare time, I enjoy working in my shop, raising my nieces and spending time with my family."
“I’ve been in the food service field for more than 30 years. I received my culinary training through the Military Culinary School and my Dietary Manager’s certification from Auburn University. Throughout my career I have held leadership positions with the US Military, Long Term Care, Hospitals, as well as serving as a Regional Director and District Manager. While serving in Desert Storm I had the privilege of preparing the Thanksgiving meal for President and Mrs. Bush, and General Schwarzkopf. I was also featured in a book by Adrian Gostik, “The Levity Effect” for his ability to improve customer service.
My wife, Danielle and I land have four children and live near Ft Knox, Kentucky. I am originally from the North Alabama region and have traveled to five countries and 21 states. I have a real passion for food and those that I serve.
To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors.’ ― Tia Walker. I believe this quote says it all about the commitment that our team shares. I have the best co-workers that cares for the greatest generation.”
“From the moment I walked in the front doors of Sunrise, I knew I was home”. To be part of this amazing team and serve the residents in such a fun and inviting capacity is just so exciting! I join Sunrise with 17 years serving our seniors. I bring my experience as a certified yoga instructor, former floral designer and my passion for fun to Sunrise. I am looking forward to engaging our residents in meaningful and purposeful activities with the Sunrise exclusive Live with Purpose Programming.
I enjoy spending time with my husband, John and our two fur babies, traveling, enjoying our pool, being outdoors and riding on our motorcycle."
"In 2019, Aegis Therapies joined the Sunrise family and we could not be more excited! We are so pleased to offer physical, occupational and speech therapy to the residents of Sunrise and the local community. Our outpatient clinic offers a comfortable environment and our team of trained therapists are dedicated to helping residents maintain their independence as long as possible. It is very rewarding to see residents recover from injury or illness and return to the things they want to do, like participate in the facility activities and outings.
I have been a Physical Therapist since 1992 and graduated from University of Louisville. I have worked in geriatrics most of my career and love hearing about my patients' life experiences. I have been married for 26 years and have 3 daughters and 1 son. I enjoy reading, home repair projects and watching soccer and basketball games."
"I have been with Aegis Therapies since 1996. I am so excited to be part of the extended Sunrise of Louisville family. To see residents achieve milestones in this homey environment has truly been a rewarding experience. Educating the Care Managers on how to continue the therapy plan has been one of my focuses. Continuity of care and extending the therapeutic exercises beyond the confinement of the outpatient clinic is exactly how Sunrise helps their residents succeed each day. It is truly a holistic approach to wellness!
I have been a Physical Therapist Assistant since 1994 and graduated from JCC. I have 2 daughters and 1 son that keep me busy! I am a pitching coach at Georgetown College and run a travel softball organization. I have been married 29 years and have 3 dogs and a cat."
Sunny Joined the Sunrise family in 2016 as a rescue and has adjusted very well to his comfortable surroundings. Sunny enjoys lounging around the community most days. Sunny is very food motivated and he’s guaranteed to be close just in case a morsel should hit the floor. Each day he makes his rounds through the community checking in on residents and staff, just in case there’s something for him to munch on of course. Sunny is happy to offer a “high five” for a treat!
