Nancy Nelson, Executive Director at Sunrise of West Hills and RCFE AdministratorNancy Nelson

Executive Director and RCFE Administrator

“I have over 30 years of proven organizational leadership experience with a passion for people. I spent the first half of my career on staff at large churches working with families, women and kids. My Sunrise career started in 2011 at Sunrise of Monterey, as a care manager, moving quickly to a coordinator position overseeing the activities and programming for 100 people. I became the executive director at Sunrise of Studio City in 2015, effectively managing a large team of people and passionately serving 95 residents. I, then, moved to Sunrise of West Hills in May, 2017 and I continue to serve residents and families as executive director.

I love the residents and see them as my extended family. It’s a privilege to care for such tremendous human beings in this season of their life. I have been married to Alan for 36 years, have three adult sons, one daughter-in-law and two precious granddaughters. I can usually be seen holding a glass of ice tea!”

"As a purveyor of the senior care industry for 31 years, I have had the privilege of belonging to the Sunrise Senior Living family since 2003.  I am passionate about enhancing the quality of life for seniors and their families. I strive each day to find ways to continuously fulfill the special needs and requirements that are unique to the elderly.

My favorite part of my job is resolving families’ issues and being able to offer Sunrise as a solution."

"I love working at Sunrise of West Hills.  I oversee the Assisted Living Department and manage the incredible care that our managers provide for our residents.  Being the Assisted Living Coordinator gives me the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life every day.

My interactions with my residents and their family members make my position so rewarding.  At night, I go home knowing that I made a difference for someone that day.  When my residents smile, I smile."

"I was born in Toronto, Canada, and studied gerontology in college.  I have eagerly worked in the field of activation and recreation with the elderly population since graduating in 2001.

As soon as I walked through the front door of Sunrise of West Hills, I knew I wanted to be a part of this wonderful team.  You can feel the staff’s love, warmth and devotion to their residents throughout the community.  I look forward to coming to work every day and being surrounded by such a dedicated and passionate team."
