Dear Family & Friends of Sunrise:  Since opening its very first community more than 30 years ago, Sunrise has been firmly focused on providing the very best in senior living. We are always looking at opportunities to strengthen our organization, and for this reason, we are pleased to share exciting news about our future.

On February 11, 2014, Sunrise announced a change in its ownership group as one of its current owners, Health Care REIT, Inc., made the decision to move to a 24% interest in the management company. The remainder will be owned by Revera Inc., one of Canada’s leading providers of seniors’ accommodations, care and services. Health Care REIT and Revera are acquiring their interests in Sunrise from affiliates of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P., Beecken Petty O'Keefe & Company and Coastwood Senior Housing Partners LLC. This transaction, which is expected to close in the second quarter of 2014, will create a new long-term partnership between Health Care REIT and Revera to support Sunrise’s bright future.

It is important to know that this agreement has no impact on Sunrise’s residents, brand and the high-quality services our residents enjoy. Sunrise will continue to manage its communities as it does today, and seek opportunities to benefit from this partnership to make certain we continue to innovate and improve. The ownership group will bring a combination of financial and business resources, senior living experience and a firm determination to help Sunrise further our mission.

Our commitment to delivering consistent, best-in-class, personalized care and service has never been stronger, and we look forward to continuing to bring the joy of every day to our residents.Thank you for your trust in Sunrise. We are truly privileged to have the opportunity to champion the quality of life for all seniors.
