Close your eyes and picture a summer's day as a child. Between the smell of fresh cut grass and sea breeze, spending your time outside in the warm weather was a must. And just when you started to enjoy the sun beating down on your face, you heard the ice cream truck rolling around the corner, followed by running inside to ask your mother for her spare change.

Now that summer is right around the corner, it's the perfect time to indulge in the sweet treats that take you back to your childhood. But there's no need to wait for the ice cream truck – instead, just grab your blender and get to work on one – or all – of these delicious homemade milkshakes!

1. S'mores Milkshake
Nothing says summer quite like a campfire – especially when s'mores are involved! Try this recipe from Food Network for the perfect snack.

Ingredients:

  • 8 marshmallows
  • 1 pint chocolate ice cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Graham cracker crumbs for garnish

Directions:

First, prepare a cookie sheet with foil. Place marshmallows on the pan and broil until each side is well browned. Then, blend ice cream, milk, vanilla, salt and six of the marshmallows until it reaches a smooth, creamy consistency. Pour in a glass and top with graham cracker crumbs and remaining marshmallows. 2. Strawberry-Rhubarb Milkshake

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 rhubarb – sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. water

  • 1/2 cup milk

Directions:

Using a small saucepan, simmer sliced rhubarb, sugar, water and orange zest over low heat setting until soft. Let cool for about 10 minutes. Then, blend mixture with milk and ice cream and enjoy!

  • 1 cup lemon sorbet
  • 1 cup vanilla frozen yogurt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons lemon curd
  • 2 egg whites
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar

Directions:

Begin by blending your lemon sorbet, frozen yogurt, milk and lemon curd until well combined. Pour mixture into glasses and set aside.
