Great place our family feels relieved that our mom is taken care of wiith love and respect

The staff are so patient and extremely nice towards my mom who suffers from Dementia. The care is a learning curve that changes daily and they understand the challenges. There is always room for improvement but my mom seems happy and that's the most important. I love the fact the facility is so close to work and home, makes it convenient for me to get there if any special needs are required. When visiting - the many seniors I see seem very happy which is a good sign of the attention and of their care. Joanne and her team are pretty amazing and blessed with a lot of patience and love.

We have been very happy with the care our Mom receives at Sunrise San Mateo. The staff is very caring and capable. We especially appreciate her main team: Su, Norma, Leslia, Gisela, Steph, Alma, and Dania.

My 93 yr old father has been a resident at Sunrise since start of August. The facility is beautiful. The staff is caring and attentive. The food is good. He enjoys the activities. For what could be a very challenging transition (from independent living to assisted), it has gone really well.

The care team management staff at Sunrise are very responsive and professional I get frequent updates from Joanne, Dania and Su along with suggestions for my mom’s care and I really appreciate how involved they are with her care on a day to day basis

Sunrise in San Mateo is definitely a place where I can truly say I can have my love one feels safe and at home. With continues training with their care staff definitely is a plus. From the moment you walked in you feel welcomed. The care staff, nurses and the rest of the team are very compassionate on what they do for their residents. I highly recommend this community.

Staff exercises compassion & attentive care for my mother.

It has been a year since we moved our mom from out of state to live near us at Sunrise of San Mateo in October 2023. The relief that I feel knowing that her needs are being taken care of is incredible. Mom's care managers are patient, kind and treat her with respect. Joanne Gutierrez, the Assisted Living Coordinator, has been tireless in coming up with different tactics to engage our mom. She is now spending all morning downstairs participating in activities instead of spending her morning in her room. As her care needs evolve the team modifies their approach to her care. They are wonderful about keeping us in the loop and are very willing to problem solve together. Joanne made it clear that she wants her team to get to know the residents in their care and I feel like they do a wonderful job of it. We are so grateful to have found the community at Sunrise of San Mateo.

I can’t say enough good things about Sunrise of San Mateo Remembrance care! Every member of their staff truly cared for our mother’s needs, keeping family informed through FaceTime, photos, videos, and phone calls since our family was not in the area for frequently as we would have liked. The facility was clean and staff was always attentive and skilled. We would highly recommend!

This place is so clean and the staff is so friendly. My mother-in-law has been a resident for a year now. She has made many new friends and loves to go on the weekly outings!

My sister has been at Sunrise of San Mateo for 3 years. I am very satisfied with her care. The nursing staff is always responsive to her needs as well as to any questions I might have. They keep me well informed regarding her progress ( or lack of), for which I am very grateful since I live 2 hours away and can only visit in person every few weeks Joanne, as her case manager, has been particularly involved in her care. She works very hard to resolve any issues or concerns I may have and my sister’s well being is always first and foremost during discussions about her care. Theresa, the Concierge, is especially kind and helpful. She is well informed and competent regarding facility operations as well as the needs of all residents. She always makes the extra effort whenever I visit or reach out by phone.. Overall, I would highly recommend Sunrise of San Mateo to anyone who is looking into Assisted Living for a family member.

Our prayers were answered as we searched for the right place for our elderly parents. Dad, with severe dementia, and mom needing more help with his care and her activities of daily life made living in their home impossible. Sunrise of San Mateo is a smaller and more intimate Community for both my parents. The highly skilled and compassionate staff made the last few months of my dad’s life as comforting as possible while providing my mom and our family the care and support we needed to get through. We are forever grateful for the incredible teams in Reminiscence (memory care) and assisted living.

My mom lived at Sunrise San Mateo for almost 8 years. I could not have asked for better care for her. She was always treated with dignity, even when moved to the memory care floor. The staff is incredibly caring and would always update me on her condition. I am grateful for their kindness and compassion for her care.

My sister moved our mother into Sunrise this January. Sunrise staff assessed and chose the service level and team to care for our mom. She was given a spacious room with a sitting area and everything she needed. Being a picky eater, the kitchen and dining staff did a nice job to accommodate that. Annie and her daily care team took great care of her. At one point I asked mom what she thought of her arrangement there and she expressed that she liked her room, there was nothing she was missing, and nothing she would change. Everyone there was very nice and responded to individual requests kindly. Thankfully Annie and her team were able to coordinate FaceTime visits and share videos to keep in touch via cellphone. Would highly recommend Sunrise for their care, communication and comfort.

Everything presented looked great at Sunrise. As yet,our family member has not yet moved in yet,so my answers to some review questions reflect that.
